Hi ,we are taking off to sunny Qld on the week end ,and I was wondering wether to book or just drop in ? At the end of the day there maybe 20 -30 vans at the gate to get in,I think that it would be aproblem. Any ideas what to do ?

What????? only 20 or 30 vans waiting to get into the gate to Queensland????????????????? Where is this gate?????? I don't think you have to book to get into Queensland, and have never gone through a gate!!!!

I don't book but when we decide were we are heading for on the day I ting to see if they can fit us in , If they can't we change our plans try some where else or free camp

also check for school holidays like it is in nsw now, not sure if same in Qld ..

You'll see how busy it is quick enough. We don't book unless its really busy and usually only a day or 2 ahead. Its nice to know that your place is secure, then you don't have to hurry to get there early.

I have found if you arrive at the CV Park around 11.00am you should have no problem. I didn't all the way up but then I stayed in free camps most of the way anyway.

When you ring don't forget to ask the price ,if not when you rock up , you might get a fright at some of the price hikes i nc/ parks .

We only book if we want to stay longer than a night. And yes, if not booking, turn up early and get your money's worth - almost a full 24 hours.

Problem is ,you leave at 10 in the morning , travel 300 k and then it's 4 in the afternoon.

So true - unless you decide to travel fewer kms. Bit hard if it's on the Hay Plains or somewhere like that. Guess that's why you need to be set up for freecamping too.
