It appears that unless you are well know on this forum people ignore you , I have tried a number of time to help and have ben ignored each time , ok I'm new and you don't know me yet, but still even if your unsure what harm is there to question the sugestions proposed.

Agree with Chris (SEE ABOVE),,, Pete just be a part of this forum. I get frustrated with some things,,, especially when I provide TECHNICAL advice that has required considerable expertise and research and then nothing happens,,, nil,,, zilch. Many people these days can't say a simple thank you, and this is a shame and at the same time a refection of society in general.
BUT that is the forum,,, stay with it,,, you will benefit as will others from your input.

Try putting a little about yourself on your profile (without losing privacy)... are you an experienced traveller, or a beginner, single or married? People relate better if they have some idea where you are coming from. And post a bit more, make comments, ask questions etc, as well as helpful advice where you can. None of us were well known when we first joined up.
To meet people if you like, all you have to do is read their profile and posts and send an invitation via pm if anybody is close by.

Just think though, if everyone who read a post and sent a thanks the system would be over run with thank yous and it would be impossible to see the tree for the woods so to speak.
Sometimes it may be a specific reply and not a general reply and yes then a thank you would be in order.

P, There are plenty of post's that dont receive any comments, maybe they are of no value to any body. Then you get the next post that goes on forever, has a lot to do i think with your interests, knowledge , weather it's of any interest to you as we dont all share the same input.Some have a lot to say, others not much & some nothing, they just read.
Mate, its still early days yet, three mths & 18 posts, it will happen.I've had topics with no/ or little reply, doesn't worry me to the point of giving up & even when people disagree with you , debate it & find a solution.

Like a lot of forums people do take on board the info but seldom acknowledge the poster. If acknowledgement is important just look at the readers and it will give you some idea if people are reading your stuff , as they say "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink"

that is really sad you feel this way P, I have been around this forum for 12 months, still not officially a GN, still have a house to sell, but I will you that I have met the most wonderful, friendliest people from this forum out there. It just takes a little bit of effort to make yourself known, in a way that people can relate to the person typing and then join in the conversations that are carried forward. I had watched regular contributors for some time, found out last September/ October that there were a group of them at Greens Lake, made the extra effort on my way home from Melbourne to do a detour of sorts and met up with them. It was the most amazing one and half hours that I had spent in a long time and did not want to leave. Lovely welcoming people. If people are coming down around Mt Gambier and post it, I will always make contact and meet for coffee and a chat. Have never met one that I did not like.
So P, keep at it, don't give up and just enjoy the journey. As others have said, let us know what you are about, who you are and what you are up to.
As one fellow GN says all the time, "It is not hard to be nice to nice people, and I tell you that for free."

I have been on a number of forums, started on a Mums forum and stayed there for 10 years, but now I have graduated to this forum. I am new here too, I am just a compulsive poster I have felt very welcomed here, and yes I too have felt that some of my posts were ignored, but like this forum and the other one you just ignore it. It is not done against you, it's just one of those things.
So don't leave thinking that this forum is terrible, it isn't, it's great, the information supplied here is fantastic, and the people in here are really very nice. I would love to meet up with any of them.

Some forums I belong to have a "Thank you" box you can tick. It then comes up as a one liner along with names of others who have also found the information helpful.
But, having said that, I personnally wouldn't care if a thread had many, many thank you's.

I have a number of posts that are not replied to, however even if I see one "view" with no replies I am happy that at least someone has taken the time to read it.
I try to reply to all those who have replied to me directly in a post, but due to time constraints may miss one here and there unwittingly, also do not always have the time when visiting to forum to read each and every thread or post.
The value I get out of the forum far exceeds any perceived negatives, if any....
