Have asked them to get me out of an old Virgin lock-in (which Virgin has been distinctly unhelpful about). Will report results.

Sound like good news ,keep us informed . It's easier to get an audience with the Pope than get a locked phone unlocked Will it also apply to Telstra dongles. Have spent up to 90 minutes on the phone on a number of occasions trying to get one unlocked still without success

I had a Samsung flip phone locked to Telstra - paid the $5.99 to get it unlocked - gave them thie info required and even had the phone make strange noises as they apparently tried to unlock it. In the end they said they couldn't and refunded the money. Then I paid Telstra $25 to unlock it. They must be able to unlock some phones but I think Telstra is a hard nut to crack.

Unfortunately, no luck, but from email exchanges, they certainly tried hard and kept me informed. They will now refund the charge. Some phones, apparently, are harder than others.
I have no complaints about the unlockers, but plenty about Virgin. Some weeks ago I asked them to unlock the phone and did not even get the courtesy of a reply. Just irritates me to have to throw away a perfectly good piece of equipment. I could, of course, just reload it with Virgin prepaid credit. BUT I DON'T THINK SO !!
Interesting site to unlock mobile phones for between $1.89 and $5.99. Applies to the major Aussie networks:
