Baby wombat peaking out from his Mums pouch. A brilliant example of a backward facing pouch. A wombats pouch faces backwards to prevent dirt from entering the pouch. Thanks to Strathewan Wildlife Shelter in Victoria for sharing this often unseen view of a baby wombat in a pouch.
I don't like to embarrass Mrs Wombat, but I've never seen a picture like this and thought it fascinating. Must be a little uncomfortable though.

Bigw is the way he is cos he got stuck on the way out and has never recovered. He gets stuck getting out of his hole too cos UNLIKE Mrs W, he has a big rear end.

This thread sure has deteriorated, so I am here to drag it out. In all your posts about poo no one has mentioned the fact that - Wombats poo in CUBES...This is due to their slow metabolism and the fact that they like to mark their territory with poo. Cubes don't roll away as easily as spheres.
