We have to travell half way around the country to meet your neighbour.
Pulled into Hartwood lastmonday week, set up camp all ready for the festival. Couple of hours later a van pulls up along side of us & turns out to be people from back home that we did'nt know, although they had seen us around town.
We all hit it off like old friends for the week, went our seperat ways on tuesday. Today we are in a free camp & the same people arrived & parked beside us again.
During our conversations the revealed that their jayco had electrical failure to their interia lights last night, so with a bit of checking for them I had the system up & running again in a few minutes, so happy hour started early & what a great arvo again.
There are quite a few hear but one van, two people & no tug, another 3ltr nissan self destructed & now waiting on a reconditioned motor, a second 3ltr nissan was here with a bad knock in the motor, both it & the van were transported back home this arvo by the NRMA tilt tray. Another Jayco here has a problem with scrubbing out one tyre, must have a suspension or axle problem but didnt get involved.
The day we left home only 20mins down the road a car & van had wondered to the wrong side of the road, as they corrected a late model camry collided with the rear of the tug & then went through the van, there was nothing of the van left above floor level.

Wow you have had a great start meeting new friends aka neighbours....then all the problems for everyone else, then disaster at the end.
I hope no one was hurt in the accident? What a horrible thing to happen.

Horrible's right. Just imagine how devastated those people were at having their pride and joy trashed in a matter of moments. On the poz side, we have nice peeps like JC helping out the neighbors, which is encouraging. The other JC was a carpenter so probably knew nothing about electrics. Pretty good at turning water into wine, though, which I think is most impressive.

JC's story reminded me of the time we were up the Top End at Wyndham and fishing off the pier and got chatting to another couple. The usual question "where do you call home" was posed and when we replied we were from the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria (have long since moved) the lady said her sister and husband lived only a couple of kilometres from where we lived. She went on to relate the tale of how the last time she was visiting them a goat got into their prized garden and ate just about everything in sight. Yep, you guessed it - it was our goat! That animal could not be contained in any paddock or enclosure if he wanted to get out. But it made us laugh to think that someone we met about as far from home as you can go in Australia, knew our goat! Annie

Finally had my life-long dream come true in 1984, and went to live on Cape York, about 120 k's south of the Tip. I'm originally from the Sunshine Coast Area. Met some-one I went to school with, and always used to do the Gypsy Tap with at the local dances almost 30 years before. They lived a little south of us, on the Pascoe River.
You never know who you're going to meet where.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Hartwood country music festival.
Dont look for it on a map as its not a town, it's a property owned by country singer Paul McCloud & is between Coolah & Tambar Springs, SW from Tamworth.

Yep, sure is small! Many years back a girl friend and I went to London (as you did), and were preparing to back pack around Europe (as you did). We were to travel with a group, and went to a small pub (a dark dingy dungeon really) to meet up with the group, who had some from the far flung corners of the world.
My friend, Judith gets chatting to a girl about our age who was travelling alone. "Where you from?" .... Australia "Where abouts in Australia?" .... North of Sydney "Where abouts north of Sydney?" .... Newcastle "Where abouts in Newcastle?" .... Mayfield "Where abouts in Mayfield?" ....... Ma..x Street "Where abouts in Ma..x Street?" .......
You guessed it! She had traveled to the other side of the world to meet someone who lived a couple of doors away.
