You beat me to it John. I remembered in the middle of the night that it was an Austin. One thing I loved about it was the fact that it would go up almost vertical terrain. I think it was one of, if not the first 4x4 to use a Snorkel. Thanks for the Link.

The Rolls Royce powered Austin Champ has faded into history hasn't it? Very few people would remember it. Here, I managed to find a page,
I had to grin when I read that it was LandRover, the Exxon Valdez of the highways that displaced it.

The Austin Champ had a few interesting features....The steering wheel was held on with a wing nut, you could insert an extension rod and steer while standing on the seat!!! This was for river crossings.....
Reverse gear was a seperate lever so you got four reverse gears...
You wouldn't lose it in a carpark.
