I read this funny article about men pacing around waiting for their wives and/or giving their opinions on what they were trying on. Of course, I've seen them myself and have felt like saying, decide for yourself woman! Let him go and do his own thing!
It got me wondering about our GN couples.
I'm single so it's not an issue for me, and when I have had a partner, none would have come shopping with me in a fit!
Have I missed out on some bonding experience here?

No Beth you haven't...............would never consider taking hubby with me for clothes, I have enough confidence in myself to know what looks good and what doesn't, though I have made the odd mistake but didn't take long to realise that mistake, 1st good look in the mirror.

I hate men hanging around change rooms, checking what she tries on, passing his suggestions back and forth.
Especially in lingerie shops!

My other half is a Sales Rep so his life is lived in shops. Sometimes a curse, sometimes a blessing The blessing being when I need to use his credit card. The curse when I take him to the lingerie section. He love pushing the cups in on the bras. The toy dept is just as bad. Every button that can be pushed is pushed.

Men go to the shop with a clear idea of what they want to buy. They buy it, then they leave. No browsing, (except in Bunnings).
I hate him waiting with that bored expression while I browse, so I usually suggest he goes to Bunnings and I'll meet him there in an hour. Works beautifully!
As for him choosing my clothes... Never!

I absolutely hate, and I mean hate, clothes shopping. Everything I try on looks like putting a sack on some potatoes or trying to squeeze toothpaste out of a tube...you get the picture. So as I hate looking at trying on clothes, I certainly don't want hubby looking.
When we walk around shops with one of my daughters, hubby will say this looks nice or you'd look great in this....I look at it, judge I'd look horrible in it and say I don't like it. I really think hubby is wearing rose coloured glasses, as he has bought me clothes in the past...but all had to be taken back to exchange to a larger size, nice gesture though
Only I will choose or buy clothes if I like them.

Anyhow, isn't the prevailing view that the only part of a man worth keeping is his wallet. Perhaps he used to be there to carry that. That is pre credit card and store card.

I would NEVER consider going shopping with a woman. I'm in and out in 5 minutes. Not them. For quite a while I did my next door neighbor's shopping - a lady in her late 70s who couldn't get around very well. When she wanted something in the green box, there'd be all colors except green. So when I arrived home and explained there was no green box, so I got the red box, she'd complain and ask me to take it back. Searching the supermarket shelves for EXACTLY what she wanted drove me insane! She figured if it was in the brochure, it would be on the shelves. Wrong! In the end, I'd arrive home, tell her if she didn't like what I brought her then find someone else to do the shopping. Grrrrr. When I had the cancer operation, I couldn't do her shopping any more so now she's driving someone else nutz.
Then you get the situation where you do get sucked into going shopping at a clothing store with a woman. Everything you suggest she rejects as too this or too that. When she finally does find something, and tries it on, she emerges from the change booth and the first thing she says is, "What do you think, darling?"
A bloke can't win.

Its not really about if you want to take your husband shopping, its more about how I hate having to fall over him, walk around him and get embarrassed by his stares myself.
I don't want him waiting outside the change rooms while I'm there.
I wont try on a bra that he's been sticking his finger into.
I don't like asking him to move down a bit so I can look at the larger sizes etc
I want him to go to Bunnings, but his not mine to tell.

Or we could just send them to the toy section so they can press all the buttons, tell them we will come to get them after we are finished...and eventually when we have finished that nice quiet cup of tea in the cafe, we suddenly remember and go back in and get them

Its easy to see who wears the pants in some of these relationships.
No, I dont go inside if she is buying underware, I leave that up to her.
She comes out if buying tops, jeans etc.
I can understand poking a bra but to send a husband to Bunnings or a toy shop
can only mean someone has something to hide. Wouldnt be price would it.
I might add that I am not with her everytime she buys something. I have never been asked to comment on strange womans apparell, nor would I want to.
Have confidence, dont worry about the price.

I'm with Grams, I hate shopping, especially with my daughter its painful. Give me Bunnings any day, I fell like I've died and gone to heaven in there. Or even better, caravan and camping shops. I don't buy much just like looking. Tess

Take the hubby clothes shopping, nahhh, mine use to come shopping with me but would go buy a magazine or paper, a coffee, and find one of the comfy lounge chairs at the shopping centre and i would meet him back there later. Usually I would come back with clothes for him, and nothing for me. Like most ladies, hate clothes shopping but for him it was so easy, straight of the rack not problems. Like the other ladies here, i would hate nothing more than having a man waiting by the change room door giving his view. Still takes all kinds I guess. Loved going to Bunnings with him though, I love that store and still like going there and wandering through all the bits and bobs, have no idea what I am looking at or what half the stuff is used for but it is a good outing. Hmmmm, maybe I need to get a life.
In short Beth, no you have not missed out on any kind of bonding session.

as both me and Les wear pants, I guess we are equals. My idea of spending money on myself is to not do it. I said in my post I hate it, so it's not something I jump at if asked...I almost have to drag myself screaming to go get clothes. I do care about my appearance, but if "I" don't like it, I won't wear it, so it makes no difference to me whether Les loves it or not. We have totally different tastes in clothes.
as for him going to the toy section he loves pressing every button on the toys, winding up and setting alarms on clocks, etc...he will go to bunnings, but we both like going there together.

When shopping with my wife I dont see anything wrong with her asking if a certain item suits her and the same with me.
I am proud she thinks that my opinion counts. I see other woman by the way they dress that they obviously dont give a stuff what they look like and obviously havent asked or wanted anyones opinion or even looked in a mirror.
I think MOST husband would appreciate a wife asking if an item of clothing suited them.
Then again maybe they dont care either.
I have finally got out of the habit of wearing my house stubbies and thongs around the van parks. I must say I look quite spiffy in my longer shorts and sandles and still comfortable.
So come on you scruffy house/van wives, ask your hubby, they might tell you the truth, if you can handle it.

Actually, I think it'd be a rarity to find a man who is a good judge of what colour, style, shape a garment that right for a woman. Other than Alex Perry or that ilk.
Mind you, I do agree that a lot of women don't seem to care how they look, and never look in a full length mirror.
My girlfriends hubby is colourblind, therefore is not much use with the colour factor.
As for the men who hang around the the ladies underwear, I'm very supicious of them. Having worked in retail for years, I could tell some stories!

Well, if it's true that most men know zilch about color and shape, it appears that most women I see at the mall here in Taree take their husbands with them when they shop for clothes. :)

Well i acompany the wife to the lingerie dept for purchases & i sometimes pay. I like tidy underwear very sexy. Usualy have fun with the assistant as well.
