We have a 2001 Toyota Prado (diesel), it has its original radio/5 CD stacker player. The radio works fine...but when we put one CD in it it won't play it, its like it still waiting....we don't have the intruction booklet for this, and there is nothing in the cars manual thing, other than telling you what its called
So does anyone have an instruction booklet on this model for the CD player?
Can you tell me how to get it to play CDs?
I'm thinking you wouldn't have to load all 5 CDs in it to get it to work surely? And its going to be a long trip without music in the background
As soon as Les comes back from work, Ill find out what brand and model it is, so I can find the manual. I have also bookmarked the page as I have a few things I am leaving behind with the house but have lost one or two manuals for them.
You would think the car would come with a manual on how to use the CD player....

Hi,
I am still waiting for hubby to come back home from work. He works up north driving road trains for 5 days on 2 days off. He will be back Tuesday night, and as we will be driving down to get the van on Wednesday, I will try getting the CD player to work while he drives. Hopefully I can get it to work...mine in the Aurion is just put the CD in and it plays automatically. I will come back and let you know if I got it to work.
Thank you again

Hi Lance,
Sorry for not getting back to you. Today was the first chance I have had to look at Les CD player. Ok everything works well, so cassette and radio, but when you put a CD in it, it acknowledges there is a CD, but wont read the tracks and comes up with an "ERROR" message. It just wont play. Les is taking it in for a major service before we start our travels, so he is going to ask them if they can have a look at it, and maybe replace whatever is wrong....hopefully its just a minor thing....could even need a good clean of the laser. So I might get a good laser cleaner and try again.
I just wanted to thank you again for your help with the instructions, the unit is slightly different from yours, but the buttons say the same thing, so it was easy to work out.

most likely a dirty laser lense or the spin motor isn't coming up to speed in the required time.

I would suspect that a 2001 CD/radio wont be worth repairing, apart from trying to clean the laser lens. Just fit an aftermarket unit & avoid CD stacker types. Buying expensive doesnt mean they are any better than the cheaper models (dismanled plenty of them).

CD players in vehicles dont seem to last to long as dust and moisture effect the laser reader, some of the earlier cd players could be damaged by trying to play rewritten cd's.
We had this problem with our 2002 GU Patrol so we removed the OME radio /cd/cassette and installed an "ALPINE" radio with cd/ipod/mp3cdformat/bluetooth connectivity which was far more economical than reinstalling another OME combination.
We just put all our music on an Ipod now and dont bother with cd's

Thank you. I have ordered a Lens cleaner, I'll try and clean the laser and see if it works. If not we will replace the unit.

Well I tried the lens cleaner, but the CD player is not turning the CD, so it didn't work. Well at least we now know we need to get a new one. ok I just found out I can get a CD player as big as this one as a replacement, so don't need to fit anything else with it.
Thanks again everyone.

We installed the single din radio and also the pocket below as it gave us somewhere to put the i-pod, the radio that came out was a double din unit.

Thank you Jim,
Les wants the double din CD player back in. We have found some, as we want one that has: CD, MP3, Bluetooth and USB. Most are DVD players as well which we don't want. I am waiting to hear back from Toyota about the price for their CD player.
I'd be happy with the single din one, so if we can't get one we will end up with the single one.
Thanks
