Anyone interested in a Get Together in WA ?  No dates at the moment, waiting for a good organiser to return from Bali, could either be at a caravan park or picnic area with no RV's, cafe etc.

To date we have had get togethers at Dwellingup C/P, Point Heron, Fast Eddy's and Whiteman Park, suggestions welcome, just sounding out the Sandgropers at the moment........this will be open to any GN's who are in the area at the time whether from WA or elsewhere, solo's or couples, all welcome.......

Prefer mid week (crowds etc) but may need to have it on a weekend for those working etc.

Please note, it would be impossible to pick a date which will suit everyone unfortunately so once a date has been set that will be it.

I'm waiting for Cathy to get back from Bali as you know she is a shift worker but also a good organiser, so see what she will have up her sleeve, I think she mentioned Dwellingup again, but we'll see what everyone would prefer, just a general meet up somewhere or a CP meet up.   Sometimes a general meet up is easier for some if they don't have to bring their RV's along.....

I'll put that to Cathy Tony, I have stayed there a couple of times and it is very nice (but not on school/public holidays or weekends)  Can get a bit windy at times but a nice location and a good local cafe/shop.....

Not sure of a date yet Spida, will post further details are available in plenty of time for anyone who is coming this way to see if date/time suits.

Just putting feelers out at the moment, appreciate your feedback on times etc....

Not so hard to book during weekdays/none holiday times, also some parks are cheaper then too Tony.....good spot though!

We did the boat cruise on the Moore River one time when we were there (leaves from out front of the c/p) really enjoyed it.

We'll need to look at that unless we pick a Perth cafe or park (Whiteman Park) picnic area, dogs are allowed there on a lead, they also have a large fenced dog exercise area.   No overnight camping there, but I was told last time I enquired that those passing through with RV's are welcome to park there during the day.   Some at our last one there stayed at a dog friendly caravan park in Middle Swan I think and just bought their car and dog with them, but they weren't too impressed with the permanents there, fighting etc, I think it was an Acclaim park.

Can you tell me what caravan parks you have around Perth that do allow dogs from your dog book (if you have one) or from Camps 7 please.

Looking at these, Banksia Tourist Park (was a Family Park, now a Top Tourist I think) is near Perth and is dog friendly, I have been there a couple of times and it is quite nice and has good facilities.   Good shopping centre not far away and also a short drive to Midland where major shopping centres and shops are for RV stuff etc.

Hope you are having a good time JG, awaiting your return and work permitting looking at a suitable venue..... 

Some may want power Spida, also Marrinup is a bit tight for some rigs (getting in there) not sure it would suit all, but I am sure that JG (Jayco Gypsy) will look at all the options, she returned recently from a free camp at Hoffmans Mill near Harvey in her campervan, but the road was unsealed and very corrugated all the way in.

But keep the ideas coming in for when JG gets back, ( for info she has both a High Ace campervan and small Jayco caravan).

 No need to be nervy, not really an organised group, these are unofficial meet ups, no pressures of obligation to do anything in particular when we meet, just do your own thing or participate in a happy hour if you feel like it. 

Main thing is to meet up with fellow nomads, and hopefully you will come across some during your travels that you know (or don't know) makes it better to meet those you know have a similar interest and outlook. 

Don't forget it doesn't matter what state you happen to be in during your travels, if some of the GN's are meeting up somewhere in the area you are welcome to head there and join in.

No need to be nervy, just sneek in and give us a sniff.....

Cathy is still in Bali and internet access a bit hit and miss (drop outs etc), but will be back shortly.

Just a point on camping at the closed Visitors Centre at the Railway Station (Visitors centre moved to the old homestead over the highway) the camping overnight is for self contained RV's only, although there is a male and female toilet open day and night at the railway station nearby.

Suggest go with company at night though, a bit isolated.

School holidays in WA start on Friday 19th April and end Monday 6th May, so if a picnic somewhere it would probably be best before the 19th April or after 6th May, a caravan meet up would probably be best after 6th May, looking at maybe Dwellingup Caravan Park or Harvey Rainbow Caravan Park both in the country south of Perth.   Both allow dogs on leash.  Some have dogs so I think a free camp which would not be suitable if we are to cater to everyone who wants to go.

Other thoughts welcome....

Cathy is the main organiser and I am helping as her deputy.....

I head out solo most times as Hubby is not into caravanning at all.( just bit the bullet & did it )

If folks feel like a drive south of Perth have a look at Drakes Brook Weir just out a Waroona and maybe camping at Louge  Brook Dam( spellings not right) if power isn't an issue or maybe a day meet either Whiteman Park or south, Pinjarra by the river. There are overnight facilities at the visitor centre in Pinjarra as well.

I won't be back for another week yet. Internet access is very hit and miss here. I'm happy to meet where ever is easiest for the majority, be it day meet n greet or couple days out camping or better still both

 Ok, Whiteman Park from 10AM onwards Tuesday 9th April 2013, suggest when you arrive go to the Vistor Information Centre (see map on left legend on link below, also other info) and get some brochures on the park and also ask where the Grey Nomads are, I will tell them when I get there so you will be able to find us.  I will hang an Ozzie Flag near where we are to help find the group, we will be in the main area.  Dogs on leash.   The map will show you where the dog exercise area is at another spot in the park if you want to let them off (some distance away at another picnic spot).

We will discuss a May caravan park get together while there, for those who can't make it we will post updates on this thread after the picnic.

If not booked we may be able to get a shelter there.  Suggest bring lunch or there is a nice cafe there also for food, drinks, icecreams etc. Bring chairs, own food and drinks, and meat if you want to use the BBQ's in the picnic area. 

At this stage we are thinking maybe a day meet at Whiteman Park, on Tuesday 9th April around 10AM onwards, and for those who can make it discuss a trip away after the school holidays which start 19th April and end 6th May.  Here is some visitor info for Whiteman Park also click on Attractions.  Dogs allowed on lead, also a fenced dog exercise area to let them run free if you want to;

Howdy, Ogre here ,My wife and I are newbies and will probably need a little tutoring Lol however we would be pleased to attend your gathering at Whiteman Park, I do love that place as many years ago I was in earthmoving and I had a lot to do with putting in some of the roads to the park.

You'll both be very welcome Ogre, don't be put off if it rains, I hoping we can get a shelter but other places you can shelter too. 

I don't want to book a shelter as they are too expensive and usually mid week at this time of the year you don't have to.
