Thanks I will, And I will try and stay out of the cooking pot, I do have some Kiwi blood in me from a generation or two back ?? and I have liked most Kiwis I have met in the past, so I will still tell my Kiwi jokes, and also listen to their Aussie jokes, after all that is the ''Anzac'' way is'nt it Besides that they do export some really good quality products out of New Zealand ?? They have for example the best ''Virgin Wool'' in the world apparently they get it from only the ''ugly'' sheep over there ? And don't forget our Melbourne Cup Race, and the Kiwi's keep sending over their Racehorses to win our Cup ?? so the do breed good horses, My Father once told me that the NZ horses only run fast '' because'' ??? they have seen what happens to the Sheep over there !!
Should be a great 2 weeks -- looking forward to it
We are going to be based at '' whanganiu'' [ spelling ?? ] it is near the top of the NI, we have a good friend who lives there, so we will use her place as the base station, and she is arranging all the travel details, so we do not miss out on much, we will be also traveling and staying at other places on our travels, we will do all the main places, ie Bay of islands, Rotarua, Auckland, etc, But from what I have read, and heard, we are not even going to scratch the surface in 2 weeks, So I am treating this like a scouting trip, and maybe when I retire next year, we will go over for 6 weeks, and hire a campervan, as that seems to be the popular way of doing NZ,

Oh really. My sister is in Wanganui (correct spelling) I will be spending a couple of nights there but will be after you have gone I'm sure. Read you post again. If its near the top of NI are you sure its not Whangarei? Wanganui is under half way up the left hand side.

Ha ha I just love all the banter about Kiwis , being Aussie born but having lived in NZ for the last 40 years and Michael being a Kiwi we are having a great chuckle about the sheep jokes and ( we only take ONE week to catch on to the jokes. )You all must go down to the South Island it is the mainland and the most beautiful. Happy and safe travels to you all.
PS Yes the cooking pots aren't for the sheep !!!!!!

hI Marj, whIle In NZ I notIced the spellIng of what was known as WanganuI Is now Whanganui and pronounced wIth 'F' soundIng. In 2009 NZ GeograhIc Board recommended It be changed and the Govt agreed and now uses th Wh spellIng. To MaorI people that Is the way It always should have beenbecause there are no words In our language that use W and not be folowed by the letter H. WanganuI stIll gets used by some.
cheers

Hi Val. I had heard that. My sister and her family and my cousin all live in Wanganui and they still call it Wanganui, but they call the River Whanganui. Thats most people I talk to as well. Does make it very confusing doesn 't it?
