What an experience it has been out here. Freezing at Malwala last winter and frying here at Deniliquin this summer.
Two weeks and I move up just north of Jerilderie for a few weeks.
In this year I have added a trailer and a tent and tarps. A stove made from a gas bottle. 3 solar panels and a small generator to boost batteries when neeeded. 2 deep cycle batteries and a big 12v fridge. chucked an excess of saucepans etc and excess clothing as well. kept simple clothes that can be washed by hand. also added an annexe mat which is great as it gives a clean space just outside the door. another lap top added as well to make net contact easier.
lots of other small bits and pieces as well. I have all I need to set up 'camp' and from now on it is save , save, save. until I can up-grade. I will not be able to put this camp up the way it is for too many years more.
I have good memories and I have some great pics and altho I have met no-one from this forum I have bumped against a couple other people who live out here 24/7. Had a little help from these. The fishermen here have been helpfull as well. I needed and asked and they were willing to assist.
It is an interesting way of life for sure and so long as you don't want all the bells and whistles is achievable on a pension.
I forgot the most important aquisition........Matilda who is fast becoming; ' me good mate' LOL

Sounds like you're able to stretch that pension very well, Dawa. I'm surprised at all you've been able to manage. No bad habits, obviously. I'll be in the same boat soon enough, but I'm endeavoring to accumulate as much as poss before leaving the drive for the final time.

Happy Anniversary Dawa. You certainly have achieved so much in your year as a GN. Your posts have been very interesting and informative of that time and like The Rocket said it is a shame you have not yet met anybody from this forum. I have managed to meet up with a few different people so far even though as yet I am still to become a GN, and they have all been wonderful people and very friendly. If you are able to manage it I would encourage you to seek out where there are a few camped from their posts and make the journey to meet them.
Take care and continue to enjoy your way of life.
Sharon.

My theory is that if I am meant to meet them our paths will cross.
One of the ways I have achieved so much is by not travelling a lot.
