I just checked this web-site... in 2005 there were 330,000.
Found a Motor Cehicle Census for Jan 2012, but they didnt list RV's seperately. I'm sure its probably doubled since 2005.

I think that the number has exceeded all the figures posted on various Govt statistics sites.
If we are to believe the caravan and motorhome industry we have had double digit increases in registrations for the last seven years.
Somebody posted about watching Rv's and caravans passing him when he stopped in Childers Qld for a quite short time. I think that 30 to 40 was mentioned in less than an hour..
What about the next five to ten years as the "Baby Boomers" retire.
There will be those leaving the big lap and some just having a break but the numbers do seem to be increasing at a tremendous pace.
I would love to have the wherewithall to develop a site for the modern traveller.
Drive through with power and a dump point and water. Thats all. There are the existing CP's for those that want them and the amenities.
This would be for those passing through only.
Around $15 Per night,do you think there is a place for such sites?

We travelled from the south coast of NSW up to Sydney today (about 270km) and my hubby counted 200 RVs then stopped. There were also many going in our direction too.
As we travel the roads Rob and I wonder how many RV vehicles there are traveling in Australia. Could anyone hazard a guess?
cheers.
