Question, why is there not a sticky post somewhere, and if there is, where is it, that posts lists of bird sightings where people are camped and what they have seen. Where near sighted old farts like myself can ask is this a possible sighting or are my binoculars out of focus again!
Genuinely interested!

A good place to start is with blogs like that of forum member Golivers Travels' "Birdshoot Australia"
When I spot a bird I dont know I try to get a good look at it and photograph it if possible, going through the books later to check if what we think it might be is in this area. Bird-spotting is one of my favourite pastimes when we are away, wish my photography did them justice.

Got a good laugh out of that one Billeeeee!! My teeth chattered and my cheeks filled with air and a gentle exhale followed through my rounded lips. Ahh such memories. I like birds too. But I frown and cringe at white doves being set loose at funerals etc.

What sort of bird is that? A double breasted mattressthrasher perhaps?

Don't know that one, checked in my bird book and is not listed, but as an avid Photographer could you please release the location where shot was taken so I could also get some shots of said bird for my records. LOL
