Another short drive to Launceston's Cataract Gorge then on th St Leonard's Picnic Grounds for the night.
We took the chair lift 457mtrs the central span of 308mtrs is believed to be the greatest single span of any chairlift in the world. The slow ascent and descent allows great photo opportunities, there are many walks after taking the lift and the parking costs $2.50 for 4 hours so there was no rush. A pea**** put on a display for us, either that or he was attracting the attention of a couple of passing peahens. Well worth the chairlift cost of $12 return for concession card holders. John

Speaking of memories! I was born in Tasmania and this pic was taken in about 1962 at Cataract Gorge.
I'm the cute one in in the middle.
Cheers

thanks once again for your photo posts; it brings back some very fond memories of our tassie trip. We allowed 4 weeks thinking we could see a lot in a small state....wrong!
