I've been working at grain receival sites in Bellata near Moree (NSW), Bogan Gate near Parkes (NSW) and Carlton (VIC) for a few months creating grain mountains. Dusty work in the heat but meeting some interesting people.
Holiday next for a while then perhaps going west.
Anyone got sugestions for work in WA in about March? Feel free to PM me on addresses etc if you are not happy posting them here.
Good to hear from you Andy, got no suggestions about work but glad it is coming together well for you. John

I wouldn't mind doing a bit of work, but I don't want to be on the books of any employer and pay tax. That would interfere with my Pension. Getting work now for cash in the hand seems impossible these days. Any ideas ?

You can earn a fair bit before your pension is cut BG. Check out what the allowances are, you dont have to break the rules if you are only working occasionally.

Mr Dunmowin has just done the harvest in SA, we are moving west mid january. CBH in WA is a possibility

Yes I have checked out the Pension allowances. Right now I have no other income in Australia, so I've no need to lodge a Tax Return. If I work and tax is deducted from my earnings, I must lodge a Return. I don't really want to start doing that again...

Where are you now? I've been over to the YP for Christmas.
Who knows where I'll end up in 2013. See you all out there sometime. I hope 2013 is a safe and happy year for travels.

I travelled through that country a couple of weeks ago on my way home from Injune.
There may be some work in southern WA at the that time, such as grape picking and the late summer fruit. No dairy work. The Chinese have taken most of them over.
Our paths may cross some time, so Good luck /.

Hi BG,
I am on a aged pension and work whenever I feel like it. NO PROBLEM. Get yourself an ABN Number, then look up a website called BANTACS. They are specialist taxation accountants based near Bribie Island QLD> There site will answer any and all questions you may have re work. Basically You will need to have a " home Base". Say a daughter or sons address. You can then travel and work legally. Go to centre link and get yourself a Profit and Loss form. Dont tell them you are working for wages as you will not qualify for the P & L form. You have to be a contractor. Negotiate with your hirers a wage plus Super. You pay your own tax.
BUT check with Bantacs. I have been working this way for quite a while all over Aust. All expeences incurred in your employment are tax deductable. OR you can class yourself as an ININERANT worker. Bantacs can advise you re this aspect and you can download all necessary forms online at no cost.
Hope this helps.
