Hot day today soI left my carport roller door open after Christmas shopping and shortly after I heard a huge splash in the fish pond out the back yard. Looking out, I see the biggest, blackest, wettest Saint Bernard in the pond, standing on hind legs, up to his shoulders in the water, his paws were trying to hang on to the slippery black plastic.
What a surprise my little Ruby and I got.The dog seemed to look a bit worried but he also looked cooler and I just figured him to be a gentle giant, though he had this huge chain hanging around his neck, that made me a little apprehensive. My first thought was how Im going to get him out of there and secondly should I close the roller door to keep him yarded, thinking he must be lost. Before I made a decision he got himself out of the fish pond and trotted off up the road.
The pond is way over 1mtr deep and filled with 700 liters of water. The plant pots ended up on the bottom of the pond and the waters looking murky again, I had just cleaned it last week, for the first time since last summer.Time will tell if he has left claw holes in the pool plastic.
But hey! There is a huge water catchment swamp next door to me, why couldnt he choose it for a cooling dip.

Did the fish survive eureka?? Maybe the catchment swamp looked to dirty to him. I would have been rushing for my camera.

Yep...still kicking myself for not reaching for the camera and yes the fish did survive their ordeal.
I was going to post this in "pets on lead" but it's a bit steamy on that page. Funny that.....
