Does anyone have any experience of these and also who supplies them. Most of the reels I have seen come with a preloaded hose not suitable for drinking. Any help would be appreciated. keith

Dont know of a ready to go unit, as you say they are garden hoses.
It may be a case of buying the retractable hose reel & fit it up with a food grade hose.

I have a 'Flatout' hose (Food grade) on a windable cassette and use it where I require a longer hose. Other times I use a 6 metre length of quality food grade hose stored in a 'Hose Bag'. I have 2 X 6 metres in the same bag. The 'Hose Bag' make winding up and storage a cinch. Ozjohn.

And a tip Briche gave us was to join the ends of your hose with a joiner while stored and you won't have any water leaks while in transit.

I use a "Flat Out" hose when I need the length but I also carry a couple of short lengths of drinking water in a hose bag. I have also used an ordinary garden hose to fill the tank and found that if I flush the hose out first and don't leave it connected it doesn't affect the taste. It's also much more hygienic to drink beer and/or wine instead of water.
I made the mistake a few years back of buying a "Flat Out" sullage hose and could not get it to work despite following the instructions. (another one to add to my long list of useless camping gear). I threw the hose away and used the reel to store my electrical cord.
