Drove all up 140kms but they were Tassie kms and must equal 200kms Aussie. Always going up or down steep hills, haven't checked out the kms Vs ltr but I seem to be putting in more than usual. At least the van is performing well, phew!!! Went from Macquarie Heads camp site into Strahan and on to Queenstown again. Posted yesterdays blog from there with good signal. We now are at Lake King William Camps6 #168. There is only a sign for a boat ramp so it is easy to miss, there are a few spots but not many and the road is unmade and rough. Camps says to take the left fork but disregard that, I went down and found it difficult to turn to get back with the lake on one side and a gully at the other. John

Hi John and billeeeee and Jules If your heading nth from strahan, there is the Arthur river cruise which is sensational, it's on an old boat and takes about 4-5 hours. Well worth it. There is also a free camping spot about 20-30 minutes nth of there,I think it's called greens point beach or similar. Spent 3 days there in feb and it was fantastic.

Hi Brett - Billeeeeeee and I have been over there already, but didn't take the cruise - we are heading back that way with John in February prior to going to a festival in Wynyard - might check out the cruise then - having a rest day today, catching up with washing etc - boring! - Heading to Hobart, and have your suggestion of MONA firmly imprinted on my mind to take the guys to - don't give away the secret - I know what it is all about!!!

Your'e certainly moving around at a rate of knots. I did think you'd be staying in one spot or just moving gradually as there's so much to see.

If we don't like it - we move on after a couple of days - for instance, we didn't really like Strahan - bit too touristy - but that is just us, I suppose.

make sure the boys don't get to excited at MONA :) Wynyard is lovely too. Over the other side of the state is a place called Mayfield bay CA6 43, spent a couple of days right on the beach there and it was lovely. Make sure you get to the pub in the paddock which is on the east coast (St Columba Falls Road Pyengana, Tasmania, 7216) Free camp over night there and the meals are great :) Safe travels to you all

Hi Shogun - we have stayed at the Pub in the Paddock - we were here a month before John, so did a bit of moving around with another couple for a couple of weeks - including Pyengana and the pub - stayed overnight - had a great time! Also the cheese factory just before there was really good - nice coffee and very spoilt cows!!!

We liked it here at King William Lake and stayed another day, got more domestic stuff done and had another great campfire last night.
Will be moving on to Derwent Bridge later (when the others have woken up) to see The Wall and Lake St Clair before travelling to Hamilton Common.
