Welcome Gwian. Enjoy this forum and don't worry about posting in the wrong place. You'll soon get used to finding your way around the forum. Have fun.

Thanks Gwian, I may be availing myself of that soon. I just checked the showground website and it claims there are fees involved. Do you know if this has changed or did you simply manage to get in and out without encountering anyone?

We were at the showgrounds in Nov and they were offering the free weekend for that weekend only. There is a dispute (as with other councils) that the caravan parks should be the only stop in town and were trying to attract GN's. Sorry for the long delay in replying

No worries about the delay Gwian, the subscription system on this forum doesn't have its ducks lined up. I stayed at Armidale showgrounds about ten days ago and it definitely wasn't free, $10pn without power. Lovely grass there, lots of space, the amenities block is huge and clean, and there's a washing machine there too (which I only found out about just as I was finishing hand-washing). There is a little bit of traffic noise as the showgrounds are in town rather than outside it, but that's offset by being within walking distance (1km) of the CBD. Only thing I'd do differently next time is set up further away from the caretaker's house, as he has a barking dog and at least one rooster in his yard.
