howdy all, am in the process of buying a portable sat tv set up for our van, can anyone give any recommendations/comments etc on this topic. I see "itechworld" given a plug everywhere i look but i believe they are in W.A.. we live in Ipswich Qld. have seen different brands at places we have stopped & all seem happy with what they have. "ITECHWORLD" seem to be the cheapes in price range that i have seen but does that mean you get what you pay for???
cheers

G'day Crocodile,
I got the ITECHWORLD setup this time last year and am more than happy with the setup. I got the 85cm dish as it was recommended for travel. The total package including the set top box for around the $500 mark delivered. Haven't had a problem setting up or reception issues as yet (touch wood). All good stuff.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Crock, what ever you get the package will come with the same receiver, there is only one brand available Apparently when ACMA were looking into converting to VAST they could not get anyone to develop a receiver before the service stqrted unless they were given sole rights to supply it for a period of time.
You should be able to source a few different systems in Brisbane. I'm a great believer of having the supplier on hand where you can get to him if thngs go wrong when I am spending large sums of money.
Any locals who can recommend a BNE supplier.

Hi PeterD,
I bought my VAST sytem from Satplus,You can do it all online but if you are like lots of others and want to get your hands on the equipment they are in Qld at Cessna Drive Caboolture.Just off the Bruce Highway towards Bribie Island.
They are in Cessna Drive at the Caboolture Airport just off the Bruce Highway on the Bribie road.
You may get cheaper and you can shop online however if you are like lots of us you like to see the goods before purchase. I bought mine from the Victoria branch and got a new satellite dish delivered to my Qld address as I was travelling back up from Victoria.
Have had no problems and the equipment works perfectly.
Hope you get sorted out.
Cheers
Trevor

When we bought our van 5 years ago it 'included' a TCL TV. This failed over and over again, which was a real pain when we were on the road. It was replaced twice and fixed twice, in the end we dumped it and bought a panasonic, even though it still had over 12 months warranty left, as it was just too much trouble.

hi crocodile, as a newbie G/nomad I bought a Itechworld sat dish setup for my van as Ilike to free camp as much as possible .I have to say with the full set up including a85 cm dish and the ease to set it up has been money well spent,I got my set up on Ebayduring their special deals, and found the product to be good and no dramas ,cheeres seano
As a happy customer I can't rate satplus.com.au highly enough. They are so helpful to help you set up.
If you are into free camping, they also have a 12v replacement powerboard which fits inside your sat decoder so runs on 12v for $93.
As they are in your neighborhood you will save on freight too.
Cheers Neil

My brother and I both have the sat king Orbit. They are by far the best satellite dish. Can withstand high wind without losing signal and will automatically lower if you forget to put it down.
