Thanks folks. It's been a busy couple of months, with more to come. I'm loving it, but it is nice to be home for a few days to catch up. My goal is not to write the perfect poetry, but to comment, entertain and amuse, in that order. So Dazren, show us your literary efforts, and your levels of comparison. Now that I've shown you mine, show us yours. It's just as well I'm a driver and don't depend on my literary efforts for a living then, eh?
Global Warming

The panic is on, the globe is warming,
Scientists and greenies are repeating the warning
Reduce carbon, theres a hole in the ozone!
But seriously folks, what have we done?
Weve been reducing emissions in Australia for years,
Yet the greenies and scientists are instilling the fears,
The poles are melting, warming the seas,
Its all getting hotter by degrees.
The overall warming is really minimal.
Some of the warnings are excessive, almost criminal,
When we think of the cost of installing wind and solar
To preserve what we know as polar.
The tides are rising, the land will flood,
Therell be no where to grow the food,
The sun will burn us, and we know thats no good.
Well be left starving, thirsty and fried.
Man has been on earth for a very long time.
There have been dinosaurs along prehistoric lines.
If cows produce damaging, polluting methane,
Imagine the gases all the generations have made.
Generation Y is an interesting bunch,
They behave like they invented the wheel,
And their elders have no idea how to feel
As they discuss global warming over lunch.
Stop clearing forests and plant more trees
To ensure the poles continue to freeze,
Run cars on electricity and gas,
To avoid errors of the past.
We live, and we learn, it never stops.
Weve learned cleared forests and the bush will not produce crops,
Yet life on the land, man and beasts continues
To exist, and to thrive despite the flops.
Baby boomers and their elders have seen much more than Gen Y.
They have learned to fail, succeed and thrive,
Despite the errors, corrections and scientific raves.
There will always be good, bad, droughts and flooding rains.
Its now scientific fact there was once an Ice Age,
As we live longer we learn more,
Have a better grasp of what went before
So global warming is a cycle of life on earth, just a death follows birth.

But some of the rhymes, just did not make sense.
However in the battle of poetry, I could not compete !
