Only a week ago we have bought a Mitubishi Pajero so we will be pulling the camper with that instead of my ute. But here is a photo of our first trip with it. We headed out to Broken Hill.
How do you find the coleman setting up and could you tell me what age it is. My beautiful wife Vina and i also have a coleman 1983 model we think they are a great camper. We sold the caravan that you see in our profile.

would it not be safer to get an A frame and tow bar to fit to the ute? then you would not have to stand there and hold the camper to the ute

Lost....haha. We find it ok to put up. The trip with it the first time when we felt we could get use to this..LOL..was the thing that made us think about buying a caravan one day.
We are doing a road trip just after Christmas and we are in Brisbane but heading our way down to Melbourne to visit family while down there. So the test will be the setup every night. Staying a couple of nights in a few places. Trying to do free camping along the way. Caravan parks to freshen up and recharge camera battries ;)
The year model is 1982
I will attach a photo of it set up while we were parked in a free campside area called Meadow Glen rest area. LOTS of travellers were there...we were quite shocked to see so may pulled over there.
Wombat, you are a character....I like you already ;)
Looks great Ivan. Should have some good times out in the playground with that set up.

I'm looking to get one for the towing only with a 14 feet caravan

Hi Cruising Cruze (John).....Our ute is a 6 litre...yep a V8. Towing rate is 1600 kilo braked towing rate. Approx... 14 litres to the 100kms towing...About the same for aroundtown so not a big deal difference...But its a fun car to drive ;)
