we need less hate and more love, forgiveness and understanding. If you see a homeless person - look them in the eye, smile, say hello, maybe even buy them some lunch. who knows, you may be the first person to show them basic human kindness in a very long time. it does not take a lot to put a little sunshine into someones day. have a good day. cheers

Not enough of it pal, far too many simply ignore the problem or just plain cannot be bothered to even say g'day.

I have to totally agree with you there rocket. I volunteer at our local church run pantry. We see the needy and homeless all the time, and you know a smile, a friendly
hello, even just a "how are you going" makes them feel good about themselves.
Even the mums that are doing it tough, we make them a cuppa, and just sit and listen. Sometimes thats all anybody needs, just to be listened to.

What we don't need is speeding, reckless drivers - five people killed today on the Bruce Highway near Childers - head on with a truck - a tragedy!

top99 , I agree that what we need and don't need , as you put it in the OP is probably correct in the perfect world .
Afraid I couldn't live in an environment as boring as that .

Nothing boring about a world that used those principles. THere would be excitement, compassion and hope. Not a reality tv show anywhere an every politician in the country replaced by people who wanted to improve the country.

Because we are 'car-less' at the moment we took the bus for a trip today, and smiled and tried to have a chat with a young lass in a wheelchair (also on the bus). Golly gosh, the attitude and rudeness that came from her was unreal! But hey, we will still keep trying to be nice to others whenever and where ever we go.

I saw a Tshirt once and the slogan has stuck in my mind it was:
"If you see someone without a smile on their face give them one of yours"
costs me nothing and it works more often than you would think.
