CAW 6 site 933 - 32 10 03 S 148 35 07 E. CAW6 shows it as having no limit. However, the Updates Service on CAW website shows it was curtailed to 72 hours only back in April 2012. When I arrived I was greeted by a bright red sign with white lettering at the entrance, and again down at the area for camping, stating "ONE night camping ONLY". Dubbo council has recently closed the Showgrounds due to pressure from CPs in Dubbo, and therefore I assume it was the same CP pressure that limited time to 72 hours ... and now to one night only.
This camp is about 10km north of Dubbo - 4km west of Brockelhurst.
Given some of the camps enjoyed by others up north, this is probably a good camp. I will include some photos so you can see, and decide, for yourwelf.
Given this is not far off the major Newell Hwy, and there is the current 'southern exodus' from those who are returning from their northern sojourn, this was a crowded camp. If there were fewer campers, I would have probably enjoyed it more. Perhaps its popularity is what flares the nostrils of the CP operators in Dubbo. I arrived at 11am and there were 8 campers, by 5pm there were 18, and a couple more rolled up after dark.
Thanks for that info John, Have added it to my NSW booklet for my trip south later in the year.

We were talking to the ranger & another council officer at Terramungamine over the last couple of days with absolutely no such mention being made. In fact, both were quite enthused about it remaining open. The only change has been to restrict it to a one night stay to enable the present toilet/water provision to cope.

yes rl we stayed there in march for a few nights and it is a good spot, close to dubbo for shopping ,but it is a very popular campsite, when we left the toilets facilities were struggling,as it needed pumping out so we gave the council a call before we left,it is also a aboriginal sacred area and I think there was a bit of concern there as well.
Gday...
