Not quite a GN yet, but about to have a practice run.

Yesterday, in Adelaide went in to check on the Motor Home that my cousin and I are hiring in Sept school holidays take the grandkids up north. It is getting exciting now and I have to admit that there was a little bit of disappointment as we walked away. I really thought and hoped that I would have my own MH to be going away with, however with the house sale stalled for this moment in time a hire MH it will be.
We were able to check out one that will be similar to the one that we will be having and from the moment I stepped inside, it felt so right and I just wanted to stay and head off to parts unknown. On the plus side this 11 day trip will be a great starting point and what a practice run. I am figuring if I can cope with 4 teenagers and my beautiful cousin for 11 days then I will be just fine when my time actually comes to head off.
My house is still under contract and will be for another 3 weeks and if nothing has happened by then, I figure that just for now I am not meant to be going, and will re-assess my plans and look at them at a later date again. I have asked for the universe, gods, spirits, and everybody else to put things in play so I am able to move on, so fingers crossed.
In the meantime happy travels everyone.
Sharon.

Sharon I do hope that all goes well for you with the sale of the house.
If you head north please look me up when you are within calling distance, we can have a good chat about life on the road.

Hi Sharon, maybe not a 'Practising Grey Nomad' but you are one in spirit.
I am sure I speak for lots of GN's wishing you all the best in your house sale and getting your Own MH on the road.
With the teenagers just remember your Mum probably didn't like your music so you might have to grin and bear it with their choice of sounds.
Hope your trip goes well and I am sure it will fly by, and you will get out into the big wide world in your own MH quickly.
Cheers

Everyone's on a journey, and everyone's journey is different. I reckon that when we are meant to walk through a door, it will open in front of us..... and the door that you wanted isn't open yet. Sometimes the opening you want, isn't the one you get, but there will be magic there anyway.
That's my working philosophy, and I wish you well in your journey.

Sharon, I hope it all goes well for you. A practice run in a hire van might give a better insight to what you need in a motorhome you buy. Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your kinds thoughts and words. It is only about 5 weeks to go and I cannot believe how fast the time has gone. The kids are excited, the Nanna's are excited and looking forward to it all.
Trevor, I have decided that ear plugs will be a must on this trip and headsets. So if I sit the boys in the back they should be able to listen to their music and I will play mine up in the drivers cabin. I am sure it will all be fine, and if not well it is a long straight road to walk along to Ayers Rock if they don't comply. No, it will be all good and we are very lucky to have 4 great grandkids that are not too far out there with the weirdness of life. Being country kids I think probably makes them a little more conservative.
Rosie, I agree with you completely. When the time is right the door will open. I live my daily life with this philosophy, and I think my real estate agent views me as a bit weird because I am not upset that the house has not gone through, and keep telling him when the time is right it will happen. Of course we would all like the universe to work within our time frame, however it takes it own sweet time.
Robyn, we seem to have been on this journey around the same time frame, so hopefully we will be out on the road sooner rather than later and who knows where we will meet up. I am looking forward to seeing more of this great country, being free to do what I wish and within the time frame I wish and to have a bit of money freed up so I can do a couple of overseas trips also.
So until that bitumen is well and truly under my motorhome, I will continue to investigate and make plans and dream.
