Leaving Broome tomorrow morning and making our way to Port Headland with a detour to Marble Bar. If anyone else on the road and passing a Billabong Caravan towed by a white Patrol - give us a call on UHF 40.

The Marble Bar to Newman Road is a bit rough around the Christmas Creek Mine entrance. There's just so much heavy traffic up that way, so be careful and do what you can to keep the red dust out. Don't fuel up at Nullagine. Plan it to avoid it.

There turn off to Marble Bar before Pt Hedland (going south) is excellent bitumen with free camps along the way, a good caravan park in Marble Bar too and make sure you see the Iron Clad Hotel and do the mine tour.
Like CG said, the road south from Marble bar to Newman is pretty rough and can be closed if raining heavily, so the safest option is to go back the way you came in unless you are prepared to take the risk and rotten road.

We are now in Carnarvon.
Have had a great time travelling south and met some very lovely people but no other Grey Nomad forum members
Never mind we will keep trying to find some
Heading out to the Blowholes tomorrow and the Heritage precinct and the space and science centre and, and, and........

If you can tarry at Carnarvon for another week or so, that is the imaginary northern weather line (read fine and warm) still a bit wet and chilly south of there at the moment sprinkled with a few sunny days but very cold at night.
Try to time your arrival in Geraldton (go to the tourist bureau there) to do the trip south via the inland wilflower season around August September.......

We are now in Kalbarri, sitting in the van listening tot he rain that has been falling since 3pm I do love the sound of rain.
We went out to the Natures Window this afternoon and got back onto the black top just as the heavy stuff started
Hoping to do a trip to Hutt River Province tomorrow and a trip to the lookouts.
Will head down the coast on our way to Dongara and Perth.
Arriving Perth 4th August and staying at Landsdale for one week.
