I've just finished Tuscan Rose by Belinda Alexandra.
It's set in Italy from just after WW1 to the end of WW2, and her main character is a woman who was orpahned as a baby.
I've read several of her books now...White Gardenia, Wild lavender..very well written and researched.
Only one problem, once I start one, I can't put it down!
Belinda Alexandra is Australian. I also like to read books set in Australia, fiction or non fiction.

A friend of mine read it a couple of weeks ago. Loved it so much she's now on to the sequels. I nearly bought them in BigW last week after her glowing report, but thought I would get a few I have here read first. BigW 9.98 a book.

Gday...
I mainly read biographies or autobiographies - I love stories about real people - not famous people necessarily ... but real people and usually Australians of any era. Otherwise I read non-fiction.
I am reading An Indelible Stain by Henry Reynolds at the moment. I also love his book Why weren't we told.
Cheers - John

I just checked on Ebay Beth, saw there was other titles. Will keep an eye out in the op shops. Got a great little book at the bundy Market the other day. "Wildlife in the Suburbs" by Densey Clyne, a lady who used to be on Tv back in the 70s or 80s. An interesting read about all the Australian Wildlife she has come across.

The name is familiar, just can't picture the face. I'll have to google her.

Been reading heavy stuff recently on my Kindle: Richard Dawkins; The God Delusion. Absolutely loved Bill Bryson's 'Downunder' though and would recommend it to anyone. Andy

I read Lynda La Plantes Red Dalia quite a while ago. It's still on my bookshelf so I must have enjoyed it, can't remember. If I don't like them I put them in the St Vinnies bin.

Currently reading Anna Funder 'All That I Am". It's won lots of literary prizes and stuff - including this year's Booker prize (I think that's the name of the big one) - so I was hesitant to read it because my taste rarely accords with the critics. But a friend of mine with similar tastes to me raved about it so I decided to brave - and I'm so glad I did.

Do other people find it really hard to get into a new book after you have just finished a book you have really enjoyed..........I do.

I read for pure escapism. Micheal Connoly, Robert Crais, Lee Child (cant believe Tom Cruise is playing Jack Reacher) I just read 17 books by Janette Evanovic. Pure garbage but great for a chuckle and escape. One for the money was number one and a movie of it was released a few months back.

Definitely Pauline. I sometimes cannot pick up another book for two weeks or more. If I read a good trilogy and I finally finish the last book I virtually sulk for a few days because I didn't want it to end. . . .how is that for weird??
