Any body going to be in Rainbow next week? We will be in town from 30th April for a few days. Visiting my mothers childhood home and some of the locals that I know. It would be great to meet with anyone passing by.

Hi Drifters
Rainbow is a place we visit regularly. Gary has family there, Clarkes and McLeans. The Olivers are from Ellem not far away.
The caravan park is only $15 a night. The caretakers Leanne and Woofie are great and the amenities are spotless.
The Yurunga Homestead in town is worth a visit. It is a museum and a work in progress to restore the building back to its former glory. A donation of $2 for entry.
A visit to Pella east of Rainbow is another area to see, there is an old Lutheran Church and School.
It is a good time to go now that Lake Hindmarsh if full again. Lake Albucutya although dry is a great place to see how enormous the lake must have been. Gary use to swim there when he was a young boy.
Sorry if you already know all this but we really love visiting there.
Enjoy your stay.
Cheers
Glenda

Hi Glenda
Good to hear from you. Part of the reason for this trip is to check out some issues at Yurunga. My brother and I are helping out with odd jobs. This time I am looking at what is needed to fix the fearnery for them and have a look at what it will take to fix up the stables in the future,
We used to camp at outlet creek every Easter for a couple of weeks and spent a lot of time swimming in the lake and even went to a water skiing event at Albacutya (yes it had water in it then)
My mother grew up in Rainbow and Grandad Bill Miller was the local policeman so we had a lot of old friends out every night for drinks and a BBQ
Maybe Gary's family and mine knew each other. My mother was Evelyn May Miller (May)

Wow what a wonderful thing you and your brother are doing. Gary said he did not know your parents but perhaps his relatives would.
When we were up there last year there was water in the outlet creek.
Gary's Aunty was a well know figure in the town Molly McLean, perhaps your mum would have known her. The Clarkes and McLeans have farms up there.
Enjoy your time up there.
Cheers
