After a second tour Steven still didnt get to snorkel with a whale shark but we left Coral Bay Thursday morning as planned and set off for Exmouth 153kms away. We needed to stock up with groceries after spending three days longer in Coral Bay than expected then off to Yardie Creek Camps6 #485 the furthest camping site in Cape Range National Park from Exmouth so that we could work our way back seeing the sites and snorkelling the best reefs. We arrived in time to do the walk to see Yardie Gorge, see the beach and take photos of the sunset. I was perched on the highest sand dune overlooking the Indian Ocean waiting for the sun to go down and thinking that these days were the best of my life and that it could only get better, hard to see me living between four walls whilst knowing that these magical places are there to be seen and experienced. The camp host Murray is going to book us into Tulki Beach Camps6 #481 for tomorrow night and Steven has worked out some of the best snorkelling beaches and another gorge to experience enroute to Tulki Beach.

Had to go direct to Tulki Beach to book in and reserve the site, so Steven erected his tent on the site and off we went to Oyster Stack to try out the snorkelling. Not a good start to my snorkelling, it was windy and the waves were high plus the water access was across the rocks and had to slide in between waves. I decided not to snorkel at Oyster Stack but Steven went in and hurt his foot on the rocks. We left there and moved on to do the walk to Mardu Mardu Gorge a round trip of 3 kms with an expected time of 2 hours. After the walk we went to Turquoise Bay a beautiful sandy bay with a helpful sign about using the currents to the snorkellers advantage and I did get to snorkel at Turquoise Bay. We left there early afternoon and went to Lakeside Campground Camps6 #480 again beautiful sandy beaches and snorkelled using the currents to bring me back to where the shoes were left. Then off to the Tourists Information Centre where Steven found info about tomorrows planning.

You certainly are finding some beautiful places. Also what a great find picking up Steven along the way. Turning out to be good company. Just as well he has his own tent, two in that van would be a bit cramped.

Loved Turquoise Bay. Snorkelled with a large turtle for a while and such easy access off the beach.
We had a hesitant snorkeller with us who started off using a noodle. Within an hour the noodle was discarded.
Spent my birthday there. Just beautiful. Just thinking about it brings a smile to the dial.
