I would also like to add my very best wishes to Vic for his future travels. He has been a valued member here for a long time and his contributions will be greatly missed.

please note these are Vic's comments not mine;
I have decided it is time to move on for my own reasons which I do not wish to discuss. I thank those members who have made my membership here a great pleasure and to Cindy for her forum hospitality.
I agree with Cindy that politics and religion are divisive subjects and can cause much friction between members and are best kept off the forum.
However at times there is a very fine line between whether or not a thread has become political or not and I accept that is solely Cindys decision as to whether that is the case, it is her forum.
I am disgusted though at some of the posted comments on the Peter S thread, snide sniping at the posts of others past or present by some does little to promote the harmony this forum seeks.
For those who do not like non RV related subject threads then simply do not visit the I digress section that is what it is for. Nobody forces anyone to read this section so it is your choice, but dont complain about it if you do.
I wish the forum well, happy travels and happy life! I have enjoyed my time here and your company. Vic

I'm sorry Vic has left. I'll miss him.
I find it very sad when I realise how many people have left recently.
My own attitude when conversations (threads) get uncomfortable, is usually to think "If I was in a pub or a cafe, would I sit here and listen to this?"
I'm not the sort of person who announces "I'm not sitting here and listening to this rubbish, and I'm never coming back to this pub/cafe ever again."
Usually, I do what I would do in real life- got to the bar, go to the loo, change tables or just go home. Occasionally I pop into another pub/cafe/forum, and when it'd not quite the same comfortable spot, I wander back across.
It's not the venue's fault that occasionally customers are opinionated, loud or just plain rude; most of them are lovely folk just dropping by for a chat and some company.
I think people forget that this text which they type in the privacy of their home /van may be interpreted differently on the receiver's end, and what they mean is not what comes across.
Things will be different in a week or so.
Come back Vic.

I am very new to this forum and was so happy that it seemed to be a friendly informative encouraging forum.. However, I think I must have missed a lot as I cannot figure out what has happened. I will certainly be very careful if I feel the urge to make a comment in the future, as I will never be sure how it may be taken.....just my thoughts...I will continue to read the tips, advice, and comments and will ask relevant questions as I need to, , just not sure about commenting in general.

I'll miss Vic too. He offered very practical and sensible advise to me on many occassions.
But I do understand his leaving. I didn't have any problems, until yesterday, and I now think that some people are just plain old grouches!
I just won't bother commenting on certain peoples threads.

I have just come across this thread, and am very shocked to say the least.
Why o why do some people like to stir the pot causing others to feel they can't stay on here any longer.
Thats all it is, a small few who like to do a bit of mischief which offends some others.
I'm sick of it but won't leave this forum, but I will keep out of a few known stirrers threads that make me very annoyed.
Sorry to see you go Vic, thoroughly enjoyed your chitchat while on here.
Please come back and just ignore the idiots who don't have anything better to do but basically bully others.

I am really sorry that Vic has gone....but I do admit to knowing how he feels.
A few weeks ago, someone (who shall remain forever nameless) decided to have a real go at me by private mail. Initially, I was so shocked and upset that I thought about leaving too...but I decided against it.
This forum is mostly full of friendly, positive, helpful people. I haven't met all of you...but I hope to eventually....and I'm not going to allow the very few nasty, negative ones to drive me out.
The person who wrote to me has now (thankfully) gone from the forum.
Thanks Cindy for keeping control of things as well as you do. I'm glad that I don't have your job.
Cheers.

Please wombat pass on my good tidings to Vic. I was hoping to catch up with him, Howard and I leave in about 5 weeks time to travel to Western Australia. We have a housesit from May 15 to end of september. Which is great as I am able to network a bit more for bowel cancer awareness. Anyway pass on my regards, as I wanted to talk to him about menshed business and other things. Any WA nomads who would like to meet up with us, just pm us. That would be great

My sentiments exactly. You hit the nail on the head. Its the one upmanship which we come across everyday, egos and crap, I am not sure who the threads are, I generally just read something and if it is negative, I move on to something interesting like the cooking, or travelling with animals.
