You will find extremely few that are not mounted permanently in a van. If itis a modern van that came supplied with one it will be built into the cabinetry.

If you mount a Microwave oven inside a cabinet, make sure its well ventilated as you will over heat the magnetron & kill it.

Ours was in van as original eguip.
It is mounted via 4 longer screws from the underside of the shelf & they replace the 4 that are normaly throught the 4 rubber feet, these feet are still in place.

Our microwave came with the van. It has a bracket that passes over the top of the unit and bolts into the shelf on either side. It also has a moulded plate screwed into the shelf at the front of the microwave where the front feet fit into. There is a vent at the back of the shelf.
We only realised the problem with this setup recently when the original microwave died, and we realised that we had to get one that was the same size so the bracket would fit over it correctly.

Since i repair microwaves, heres a picture of a complete Magnetron. The 2 on the right are the actual tube in the middle. The one on the right has been severly over heated, due to lack of ventilation. These things generate a lot of heat & there is a fan inside trying to getrid of it.
