I cannot speak for the others or would I presume to do so, but for me it is that every time I express an opinion or disagree with some members I get truly reamed by both members and also by Cindy.
A couple of members as well as Cindy have suggested I go elsewhere.

If you want to play, you play nice. There are rules, we all know them, and it's up to us to work within them. Personally abusing members by PM is not on in any way, shape or form. If we offend we wear the consequences from Cindy and fellow nomaders. The goal would be to NOT offend, to avoid this personality persecution. Discussion and disagreement are healthy. Abuse for disagreeing is not. I believe that's the way a forum works. The fact that there is open and friendly discussion on this forum is the reason it has survived so long, with so many long-term contributors. Unfortunately it only takes one dissenting interloper to spoil it for everyone, which results in losing quality contributors. I thought we were all friends here. It seems I'm wrong. I hope not. When I contribute I trust my comments and topics would be accepted in the spirit in which they were offered. Agree with Chris on this. I have been known to express some robust opinions here on the basis that we are all big boys and girls and I feel strongly on certain topics. No malice intended. But abusive PMs are certainly NOT ON and I would be mortified if people had left after being subjected to them. The PMs I have received from GNs have been sardonic, funny, supportive and/or amusing. Jon contacted me yesterday to tell me that he had deleted himself.
He said that he had finally got really pi**ed off with all the whingeing and bitching and doesn't need the negativity.
He gave me permission to tell anyone who asked about it.

I am sad that Jonathon has gone also. He was one of the first to welcome me to this forum and also sent me a lovely PM, giving some really good advice on travelling solo. I really hope he comes back along with the others that have gone. Really is sad, even though one does not know these people personally they are like old friends that have gone. :(

Hi everybody, Like many of you I am very disappointed to see Jonathan leave the forum. He has been a highly valued member of the ranks for a number of years and has helped and encouraged numerous grey nomads and wannabe grey nomads over that period. As I have said many times, this forum is above all a place for positive discussions about all manner of grey nomad related issues. It has been a valuable resource for thousands of travellers … and has spawned countless friendships.I have taken enormous pleasure and pride in this, and in the site’s wonderfully welcoming nature and friendly, helpful membership. Although, we do often allow discussions to meander off-topic here, we do not allow discussion of political or religious issues. There are plenty of other places where these can be discussed. For reasons that will always be a mystery to me, it has become obvious that one or two people are not on the forum to make a positive contribution but rather to try to cause mischief and to create division with constant negative posts. I think I have been fairly patient but I will not allow the silly games of a tiny minority to jeopardise the interests and enjoyment of the vast majority any more. Thank you all for your understanding and support. If anybody has any queries or concerns, please feel free to PM me.
