Hi John, stayed there for a couple of days in 09. Have a circle around it in our camps book as well. One of many good free/budget camps we found in W.A. From memory the one cold shower was on the outside of the toilet block? is it still the same? Thought it may be busy holidays and weekends with the boating facilities.

Alexandra Bridge is my next destination just a few kms from Augusta and Margaret River in WA, I arrived there at around 1pm and decided to stay for two nights. It is a huge bushland camping ground stretching over several levels, I decided on the upper level expecting that there would be more chance of internet connection there. Correctly as it happens and phone is good there too. Camps6 #287
The ground stretches along the Blackwood river and there are short walks along the bank together with pontoon type swimming docks and access for speedboats, all in all an excellent camping location. There are good toilets and a cold shower available for the $7 per night charge.
It was asked how I find these really good sites and the way is to talk to campers who have travelled the routes where I going and make circles round their best suggestions in Camps6.

You have got it well sorted out John, Have learnt well in the short time since you first started out. The best recommendations are always word of mouth.

Looks great John, I've stopped off there in earlier years when I first came to WA - a nice spot and good to see its still going.

Dropped in for a look today from our base at Flinders Bay CP in Augusta. Looks very nice, but gee, it was busy! Lots of people in everything from tents to fifth wheelers. However, very peaceful and a lovely river setting. Goes on the list for a future visit, especially at $7 a night. Flinders Bay very full, but people nice. It is popular becos it takes dogs. Also had a look at Conto Camp, on the coast near Margaret River. Not impressed. Bit cold and clinical. And there is a sign saying alcohol is banned! Not sure how they enforce that, as it is a spread=out place. Probably would not bother to stay there myself, but there were quite a few rigs there. Drove back to Augusta on part of Caves Road through an enchanted karri forest. Unbelievably beautiful part of the world. Cheers, Tony

Yes a beautiful spot but unfortunately when we tried to stay there it was absolutely packed so stopped for lunch then moved on.
