someone told me artifical turf was great to use as an awning mat. Their dogs love it and it is also very effective in keeping dirt etc out of the van.
It's cheapest on ebay and comes in either a 2m wide roll cut to suit, or 1m squares. The thicker pile is better. The weight is approximately .75kg per metre.
The squares would be easier to deal with than the roll but I wonder if the squares would get ratty from being put down and picked up repeatedly.
Just wanted to hear your opinions on this.

Gee Elle .. I'd have to get a artificial lawn mower too .. just for the image !
.. had thought about that turf too. Short term it would probaby be fine, but whether it allows the area to still 'breathe' through it would be another consideration for me ..
I have recently purchased some of those square (soft rubber) tiles that permits water to drain away .. on its own its a little insecure as far as holding together .. so I've now also bought a small mesh floor mat that simply lays across the top of the tiles .. and is fastened by a few pegs at various points around it .. this binds it all together nicely !
So far, I've only done a test run and it works fine .. but I've been in so much rain lately that I needed to come up with some suitable remedy ..
Not forgetting .. not everybody will have sufficient room to cary all this stuff ..

I don't have the artifical turf...never considered it due to weight and bulk. I do have and can highly recommend CGear multimat.
I know it is more expensive BUT it will outlast all others. It was originally designed for use by the military and that is testament enough for me.
Yes Boroma I think I will probably end up with the cgear or similar. It seems the most effective, lightweight and easy to store. I just had this idyllic vision of my dogs frolicking on their pristine green turf..... not to be.
Jon I bought a few packs of those interlocking mats but they look fairly flimsy so was looking for something stronger.
Now on another topic I'm looking for onlline vet products. Found a cheap one based in WA and have been very happy with their service. But I will keep researching and let you know what I find out.

Baroma did you buy the cgear mat directly from them? Looks excellent.
Those interlocking squares have their best application (for me) in the shower tent. Otherwise they come apart a bit too easily, and can cause a trip over the edges.

As mentioned in the Jack Russell thread we have found Trixan Pet to be good, and worth signing up for their Newsletter to get notification of their Specials.

Gerty I bought mine for a camping store.....saw it on special at the time and grabbed it. Camping shows often have them at a special price too.
Sorry, I do not remember which one and more outlets carry them now than did when I bought mine a few years ago.
And I have to say Gerty, it is excellent.

Elle, I use Vet Product Direct who are based in Brisbane. To date have not had any problems with them and they often offer deals which sometimes included free postage.
They also have a rewards scheme where you accumulate points with every purchase and you can either save them up or use them with your next purchase.

I don't want that.
Rosie
Do the dogs pee on what Rosie??
The artifical turf or the CGear....If you asking about the CGear, NO, I 've had an issue with my girls doing anyhting like that on the CGear.
I can't comment on any other.
