Bought myself a new toy for xmas. A vast sat tv setup, and got it going, after a bit of fiddling and some help from a mate. 22 channels clear as a bell, andMust say I am happy. Now I can get tv virtually anywhere.Great.Bill
Good one Bill, Make sure you pin the tripod down as the wind will make life sad, have seen a few sand bags carried and filled when you get where you are staying, just hang them over the feet. I use a short iron dropper with a pipe welded over it , and a big hammer... The bottom of the dish can sit on the ground and it will work the same, lifes good when you have good TV.. Trouble is you dont get as much fishing time in !!!

Bill, why are you only getting 22 channels?
you should be getting about 82, but some of these are doubles.
have you registered your vast unit online?
if not make sure you register it as a traveller even if you are not a full time traveller.

if you are using a vast box then you should be getting about 82 channels, can you make a list of the channels you are getting and post here.

Fantastic Bill! Am still contemplating getting one too, but need to think about how to transport it all in the van. Unless we get the one on top of the van's roof - but much more expensive of course!

Well, the dish and stand cost me $79.95 from bestwaysattelite,The 25 ft cable was $4.95,and the sat finder was $12.70 on ebay. I had the box ffom a home Vast installation, which was govt subsidised. If you are on a pension, you can get vast installed for nothing!I love these govt freebys.Mine fits in a box in the van.It really is clear , andyou can watch the cricket, anywhere. Beggars can,t be choosers, I suppose.Bill

They're not heavy at all Milo, but they are prone to damage due to vibration if you carry them on the back of your RV. I've seen one that had its bolts sheered through the dish and couldn't be fixed. So you'd have to make sure there'd be very minimal vibration when carrying the dish on the back.

Hi all, and this is my first post....any way, I have been playing around with sattilites systems for quiet a number of years.I have a vast system for my pop top caravan and the dish that i have been useing for the last 12 months is on of the old Ausar dishes and Lmb's, cost about $ 5.00 from my local tip, Cleaned up real well and takes about 5 min to set up. On think that has not been talked about on the forums is that when you go on line and request that system is ortherised ..... tick the box for a " caravan instalation " . That way your set up will have all of the channels that are on the Varst service.
Also shop around for the Vast box as there are a lot of companys out there that will rip you off. I payed $210.00 + gst for my box 12 months ago. So beware.

Welcome Valiant81! Thanks for the advice - I've taken a note of it.
Also, just goes to show how much stuff is thrown away and goes to the tip these days. One man's trash is another man's treasure, hey...well done!
