Is that a free camp John or is there a charge?. Sounds great, have made a note of it for my next trip north.

Gday...
Free-camp with no time limitation ... it is a very large area so lots of nice places to keep the distance between campers.
cheers
John

Camps6 1098 - Gumbend Lake - 5km west of Condobolin NSW. Water, hot showers, toilets, flat level sites, shady trees - excellent spot.
Went to go there back in early 2009 and the roads leading up to the turn off, and again into the camp area had "no dogs" signs.
So we just drove around having a look, and yes it is a great spot.
I note Camps 6 now indicates there is a dog area.
Can you confirm this is so, as the camps books are not always accurate.

Yep ... the road into the spot does say "no dogs" ... but at the turnoff into the Lake there is a sign that says "dogs on leash" ... there are a couple of campers here with small dogs .. on leash, and kept to themselves ... the caretaker lives in a house which you drive past as you enter ... they clean facilities and they do not seem to mind if dogs are kept 'under control' and obvious 'precautions' taken by owners.
cheers

Thanks John.
It is back on our list now, as it looked a great spot.
We ended up staying at the River View Van Park (Camps 6 NSW 1009) for a few nights. It was basic but good, and also cheap in early 2009.
Condobolin is one of those country towns that we enjoy and is well worth a look and spending some time there.

We stayed there in August 2011,what a great spot, the ameties are kept immaculate by the live in caretakers(hope they still there),allow dogs and camp fires(supply own wood),free gas bbq and very nice grounds. We actually sent an email to the council congratulating them and more so the caretakers.
I dont know whether I would want to be there in the summer season when the young groups are there water skiing.
Cheers Baz

I believe the caretaker is an ex policeman............there is no trouble at night from the locals there....stayed for about 4 days last time..........then down to Tullibigeal....opposite the co-op...........now there is one to put on the must stop list..........power ,toilets, hot shower and a large shop across the road.
