I have a dometic 3 way fridge that has just started playing up when connected to 240v, the freezer keeps defrosting. Still works on gas.
Has anybody else had this problem? If so is it easy to fix?
Any help would be appreciated

Hi BGR Yes been there done that. It might be your thermostat on electric playing up. 1 First turn electic thermostat switch slowly and see if you can hear it click you may have to do this several times backward & forward. If you can hear it means it maybe working. 2 Check if the power point is on and power cord is in correctly. 3 With everything on power remove rear cover and see if heater box or pipe coming out of the top is getting hot this will came take up to 5 min to heat up. If not you may need a multi meter to see if the heater element is ok & check therostat (MAKE SURE POWER IS OFF & CORD IS REMOVED) Use ohms to check opperation of thermostat & then measure across the two wire on the element. You may require to remove fridge to do this. 4 If it all seems to hard take it to refridge man he will help you out. It may be time for a good service.
I hope this helps

Fellow campers had similar with the 12volt side not working.
It was the thermostate control unit, slowly turn it to off & back on & again listen for the click of the switch, I had to do this several times before it started to work, this was a very old unit.
The campers were able to stay another week so they were very happy.

We had exactly the same thing happen to ours a couple of years ago and it turned out to be the element. Replacing the element was way outside our expertise, we had to take it to a dometic authorised repairer. On the plus side for us the fridge was still under warranty.

Hi BRG, we had the same problem a few months ago and it turned out that the 240 volt heater had failed. got a new one and put it in, problem solved. we did however have to get a extra vent put in the side of the fridge so I could get to it but that will give me access next time I need to get to the fridge. The extra vent also has improved the working of the Fridge. Hope that helps
