we have a dometic 3 way fridge, which can run gas, electric from caravan park 12 vlt from house and when driving and also from solar..
latley sometimes you have the van pluged into carvan park power the light that shows next to the power light doesnt come on , then other times its on.. its been on 12vlt while driving and tonite the icecreams all melted.?? so ive got it on gas, but when in cp power the light comes on and its coolish.. its on the high setting..
also we have a swith in the van that shows the grey water level , fresh water , and battery, ie in house.. in house is only showing red then week , orange.. but earlier today was back at green..
now my question is, if we plug the van into cp power we can run the fridge and everything else ,just like we would at home.. ie pluged into our house..ie wich has the same time of point the cps have..
so its working but confusing.. wish they had a light or something to show that were on 12 vlt or 240.. confusing isnt it?? I think we'll be ok till we get home..
man my head hurts

Don't know what size your fridge is Milo. Mine is a small one, and is only 2-way, 12V and 240. When it's on 12V [which is all the time, when I use it so far,] I have to open the freezer door, to turn it on. There is a little knob you turn to switch it on or off.
It automatically switches to 240V when plugged in apparently, so I expect I'd have to do the same for that.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Hey Milo,
Don't throw in the towel mate, you are in a caravan park in a big city, goggle caravan electrical systems or the like and find one in the area that you are in, better still you are there until wednesday put note in park office or laundry, bet some one will come see you. The other thing you have local relies coming to see you, bet they know some one. look outside the square, sure you will find some on. Your fridge is different to mine so can not comment but sounds like you have wire prob behind the panel, auto elec or caravan wireman?
go well

Everything should function on the CPs 240v supply just as you say it does at home.
You say the fridge indicator light is on when on CP 240v and that the fridge is cool, which would indicate that the fridge is working.
I would turn the fridge down to a medium or low setting. I know it sounds strange but older model 3-way fridges did not work well on high (max) settings. Worth a try.
From what you say your battery charger, going from red to orange to green, seems to be working properly.

I'll have a look tomorrow when they call in for a cuppa. All parks should have 240V connected via 15 amp plug. It's enough to power everything in your rig. It's designed to do that. My fridge 240V indicator light is a flickering green. Doesn't affect the function of the fridge. Some of those indicators are reliable, they're just a guide. You should determine when you need to empty the tanks etc. I don't think your problems are all that serious. Let's talk about Milo.

Firstly, what is the model fridge you have, you were asked and you are not forthcoming. There is no way of knowing what "the light that shows next to the power light doesnt come on"actually is. It will be different things on different fridges. We are not mind readers.
Secondly, with all the other problem you described, is your house battery charged? If you have an AES fridge and the battery is low the fridge will not operate properly.
Thirdly, there is no difference between 240 V power anywhere in Oz, whether it be in a park, at home or in an industrial yard.

Hi Milo
Sorry that is still no help in determiining your problem
Dometic is simply a Brand name they make many different MODELS ,with many different methods of operation , knobs , lights & wiring requirements
The MODEL number should be marked on it or in the manual if you have one
THE ACTUAL MODEL NUMBER is required before ANYONE can give ANY useful ,worthwhile advise
Anything else is not relevant

Hi Milo,
Some of us can use high speed internet connections and google and download manuals to our hearts content while at home. This will usually find answers to techie questions for people on the road.
I will happily re-write manuals into easy to understand english and forward to people on this forum.
All we need are manufacturer and specific model numbers of gear giving you problems.
