I went for a spin today to have a look at Lake cooper, which is very nice and there is a caravan park attached to the boat club which charges $10 per day per person and will not be busy in early Nov, then went on to Greens Lake up the road which is free and I think is a better proposition. The area is very big and a lot easier to get to than gunbower island
I have some photos but cannot upload them, and even the photobucket was not working.
Cindy we need a better system for uploading photos without going to different programs
The lake had a couple of caravanners who had been there for weeks and enjoyed it and the fishing ( redfin & yellowbelly )
Toilets were basic but clean and had toilet paper, no showers or water
The first weekend in November should be fine as any people there for the cup long weekend should be gone
Ken

Ken ; I know the green lake that you are talking about.
We called in there for a cuppa a couple of years back & would have loved to been able to stayed for a while but we were on a mercy call back to sydney ,BUGGER .
There was plenty of room & good access. I thought I may have had a couple of pics to help you out but dont seem to be able to find them, maybe I just thought I had some.

While googling Greens Lake, I discovered there's also a Green Lake...some distance west of Bendigo.
So to the novices of Victorian geography, like me, it's the plural one, east of Bendigo.

Ken,
I had the same problem in that the pictures wouldn't upload.
Checked out the maximum upload was just under a MB and my camera was taking pics just over MB. I reduced one on Paint and was able to upload it. Now I have reduced the pixels from 16 megapixels down to 12 and just come under the minimum.

Nothing wrong with fishing if you like it Ken. I haven't done any knitting for years, and don't like Cross-stitch either.
I'd much rather be exploring and finding interesting plants, and animals etc. From the very little I've managed to find on the 'net, Greens Lake doesn't appear to have much vegetation at all, or am I wrong ?
I'd love some-one to post some good pics. Gunbower seems to have a lot more going for it scenery-wise. And we can take our Furry Kids there too.
Cheers,
Sheba.

I'm happy to follow on with whatever everyone else is doing and happy to sit and watch others fishing if they want to. JazzinAround rang tonight. She's over the west but will be back in time. As long as I have my camera and a few other hobbies to keep me occupied, but mind you with all of us there will be talking to much to bother doing anything else.

I just googled Greens Lake and found photos from a couple called Nannapop. Looked a really nice place. Flat with trees and plenty of space. They had put up a photo of the rules board. No mention of dogs not allowed and no mention of dirt bikes. I will have to keep looking
Yes thats the one Sheba. Looks like we might have to have a turn at both places. I'm up for that.

It seems that Greens Lake is where its gonna be ..
I'll probably catch up with a few of you around that time, but as the HF Radio Club is holding its annual Elmore Rally at Aysons Reserve from the 4th to the 7th, I will be attending that Rally ..
Just thought I'd let you folks know early ..

Hi all,
we checked out Greens Lake, Gunbower and Aysons Reserve yesterday. All are great places. Greens lake would be ideal for a large group - lots of nice flat areas and trees that aren't big enough to worry about if they crash down on your van!!
Gunbower is very nice too but I would be worried about the large redgums and where to park the van. It also has rather small camping areas so a large group would be split up
Aysons reserve looks very nice - great place for a group Jon
There were no signs anywhere that we could see at Greens Lake about dogs. Loffty was going to ring the water people but I see Ken has done that already and dogs are allowed under control.
Looking forward to meeting up there in November
Regards,
Sue

Although Aysons Reserve is a lovely little spot, I can let you know that the 'ablutions' leave a lot to be desired .. definitely would prefer that you carry your own 'facilities ..
Greens Lake .. just simple toilet block there but was in a fairly good condition and definitely more 'approachable'
