I was always hesitant to buy one but when they came on special at Rays outdoors for $39 and S\S which is half normal price I bought one along with S\S kettle to heat up the shower water on the oz-pig .....Thank's again Blue for telling me all about your smoking salmon and I am keen to try other meats and sausages ...Cheers ..BoB..

Hi Bob,
Your posting brought back some very unfond memories for me as an 8 year old - not your fault of course, but oh, the smoked cod I remember well! Yurk! Mum used to cook it up with white sauce, and I positively gagged on it. I used to smother it with tomato sauce, pinch both my nostrils tightly closed, and swallow each forkful whole! lol All that so I could quickly finish and be allowed to go outside to play with my friends! I have never eaten it since - although I know tastes change.

Hi Romy
Lots of childhood gagging comes from the recipe / mode of preparation, and not from the food itself.
I love smoked cod- but the real stuff not the stuff sold in Coles and Woolies.
I also love tripe- but not with white sauce like mum cooked - do mine in indian curry or even a bolognaise sauce.
Have another go at smoked fish, but do it yourself, and don't buy it at the supermarket

I have the same memories, Good Friday Mum always served the most AWFUL red smoked fish, I can remember still sitting at the table hours after everyone else had left because I wasn't allowed to leave until I had eaten it all.
