Well I have read your posts and I am very envious of you all. I have an almost vintage van 12' including drawbar very comfortable but basic, an annex n awning if needed. Shower tent porta loo n bush shower, 3 way fridge n all towed by a 1997 Toyota. That is what I can afford n I want to head off. Any thoughts or suggestions?
The pod is the name of my baby van.

Sounds to me like you are set to drive out the gate if you have everything mechanically AOK.
Welcome to the forum mate, and enjoy.

If the car and van are both roadworthy, the only decision you have to make is
"Do I turn left or right out of my driveway"

Which ever way you decide to turn TP it is one big adventure. How about turning left and then make another left into the driveway when you get back. So much to see and do between turns.
Just love this country and what it has to offer.
Enjoy the good life.

To your original question, "Am I being foolish?" Definitely not! If your equipment is well-maintained and your know how to operate it, your are most definitely not being foolish. I'm often described as "brave", but foolish I definitely am not. It certainly sounds as though you are very well prepared. So if the real estate and furniture are all that's stopping you, it's only a matter of time before you're ready to hit the road. There are many singles, men and women, out there, as well as couples, young and not so young, just doing it. It becomes a lifestyle. Maybe do short trips, shake down trips, to being with until you feel confident in your rig and yourself, before you take on bigger distances and new scenery. Your only regret is putting it off too long. Welcome to the forum. Safe and happy travels.
