My wife suggests you may be looking for product no. #19223 for arms, or product no #03501 for hands.
Hope this helps as I personally have no idea!!!

That was me Norma. I use any of the skin so soft range, currently the hand and body moisturiser. Basically its the oil film that it leaves on the skin that deters them.

Another thing that I have found that works is putting purfumed talc on my ankles or the bits that they love to bite the most. This is a good thing if you are still outside & grubby and havent taken a shower yet but are not quite ready to go inside. I actually picked this tip up when touring in south east asia & observed the locals doing it. Works a treat & isnt toxic.

The Avon SSS one that I have got is a small aqua blue bottle with orange writing. If I could remember where I packed it would tell exactly what it says.

Found it, Avon Skin So Soft Bug Guard plus Insect Repellant SPF 30 moisturising sun screen lotion with Vit E and Aloe. Has disappearing colour, which means when you put it on it is blue and then sinks in to no colour. It is 100 mil bottle.

Jack what does the talc do mate, if thats not too dumb a question?
I am like Ma, I suffer greatly and use antibiotics at times for the bites. I take a telfast 180 everyday I am in the bad areas.

Brilliant idea, drink lots of whisky so you become legless so as to cut down the size of the target area for them to attack
My home made bourbon does it best for me, but alas, my stil & other equipment wouldn't fit easily into the caravan.
Cheers

Might have to get a bottle of everything talked about here I think, just to be sure.
Nivea Q10 plus moisturiser was supposed to be another deterent. I have to say it didn't work on me but different horses for different courses as they say. Worth a mention.

I know everybody likes alternative remedies, but I was so desperate I tried the new odorless aerogard which does not contain DEET and it works!

I have about 40 sand fly bites at the moment (I believe Midgee & sand fly bites are the same thing though some may dissagree) & with the heat & humidity they do tend to itch A LOT.

If you do happen to get bitten, either straight Dettol dabbed on, or a cut raw onion rubbed on will stop it quickly.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Well look, I never got to the bottom of it really, I was in the tropics, in the scrub with the locals & the mosquitos/midgees were making a meal of me & I had no remedy for it and one of the local ladies went into her shack & came out and put Johnsons baby powder on my ankles & legs. Apparently they don't like the smell or the landing on the fine powder, I'm not sure.
I would say it is best used for the times after you've showered and your mostly covered up & you can powder exposed parts of your body etc.
The other thing they hate is lemongrass.

Which is also one of the benifits I forgot to mention that I have found with the johnson and johnson baby powder, it has for me also reduced the effects of itching.
I'm not sure what purpose Midgee's serve in life but they sure are a pain in the backside when it comes to getting out into the great outdoors

You got that right Ma. I will still make sure I am stocked up on Telfast 180's. If its as simple as J & J talcum, I will be very happy though. Beats feeling slimey all the time and smelly.

Hi Norma,
My wife makes the best Bite & Sting spray available. It's made from a traditional remedy from a certain type of Mangrove which is a natural remedy from most bites & stings.
The website is in our signature at the bottom and the good thing about the product is that it works. A lot of the product has been sold in Tasmania of all places. It gives relief by de-activating the venom from the midgees and once it stops the sting doesn't come back. It also works on bluebottles as we witessed on a beach recently at South West Rocks.
Best wishes
Pat
