I had a call from ballina police last mon 19th april to inform me that they had found my red nosed, blue and white coaster...burnt out in a reserve in north ballina. The three youths that i gave a lift to two weeks prior into Byron Bay seem likely contenders to have totally torched my house/toolbox, 100's of $ worth left to burn, recognisable by their metal components only.Anyway, police took a statement but said they wont have any chance of conviction, so life goes on. this info is on other forums(STOLEN BUS FOUND).
I'm so very sorry to hear this outcome to your search for your stolen home. That's heartbreaking. It's not much consolation, but were you insured? You can't replace memories and treasured belongings, but a little insurance would be a little compensation for your loss. Then to learn the ungrateful bast..ds will probably get away with it ....... Now that makes me cranky!!!! MONGRELS!!!! All the best to you, and I hope you can pick up some of the pieces and get on with your travels again.

Sorry to hear about that rooster
I have been looking on my travels and have seen a few that matched your van as the colour must have been popular.
I will take the rego number that I have been keeping in my car to check numbers and put it in the bin
Hopefully you will get back on the road soon

Sorry to hear that Rooster - mongrels is the only word isn't it? My son in law was grocery shopping on his way home from work on Wednesday, locked his work ute, when he came out with laden trolley - ute gone!! As luck would have it, he had unloaded all his tools and left them locked on the job he was on. Police reckon there has been a spate of work vehicle thefts in the area lately - doesn't help, but at least you know you're not alone. Like Granny, hope you had some insurance.

What a lousy way to find your vehicle. I feel so sorry for you, I suppose the reason for no conviction is the fire has destroyed all evidence of them. I only hope you can get set up again to enjoy this great country of ours, but it leaves a sour taste in your mouth, and serious doubts of human nature...

We can only hope the thieves stuff up again somewhere, unfortunately at another victim's expense, and they are caught and convicted next time. What happened to working for what we want and need, and waiting until we can afford it? The work ute thing is a bit like the performance vehicle thefts, there's a market out there, between the thieves and the dealers. Just like drugs - Growers, couriers and dealers. With money changing hands with every exchange. The buyer is unaware they're purchasing stolen property until the cops find the vehicle and inform the new owner of his unfortunate choice of car dealer.

Extremely sorry to see your pride and joy in that condition.
I hope those that did this get there comeuppance in due course.
Perhaps the next vehicle they thieve will hit a tree whilst they are in it injuring them for life.
The law at times seems less than inadequate to handle this type of thuggery.
I hope that your next vehicle is a bottler mate.
Cheers Dodg.

So sad that all of the efforts expended & expectations dreamed of have gone in such a senseless act of vandalism.
Small consolation but I suppose but maybe the salutory message might be that in this day & age we must be very careful about those that we offer a helping hand to (like those 3 people that you assisted).
We also have been on the lookout since your posting & share your sadness at the outcome.

It's a sad reflection on human kind when a good deed is taken advantage of.
Just makes it harder for those that genuinely need a helping hand that people like us take a second thought because of the mindless acts of others.
Sorry for your loss Rooster.

A similar thing happened to 3 young pommy backpackers in Cairns while I was there. They shared their vehicle and travels with a 60 year old man for 6 weeks. They left him and the vehicle in the park while they went out on the town with friends. When they returned to camp the bloke and their old Landcruiser, cameras, ipods and lap tops were gone. The lads were heart broken. They found the old bludger and the vehicle about 6 weeks later, all intact. Rotten sods, the lot of them! Who can we trust?

Makes one think that we need to super chlorinate the gene pool especially the shallow end . Hard to get the coppers to respond anything these days unless shots are fired

The problem is lack of man power to keep the peace. The crime rate is higher than it has ever been, their numbers are a bit thin on the ground, and the demands are much higher. I wouldn't be a cop for quids these days. It seems their hands are tied. Let's just keep our eyes open and do our bit. Next time you hear of an arrest for one crime or another, check out the nationality of the perpetrator. Mmmmm............

That is just awful Rooster. I'm going to be in the Ballina area in the next week or so - note to self, do not pick up any hitchikers or other strangers. Though I must say that it's a sad way to be thinking.
