Surely they weren't camped on a track, so one may be led to believe the driver was off the beaten track. I have a covered camp stretcher and I've stuck reflective tape on the frame at each end. I hope it's enough. Has there been any follow up to the initial report?

I have heard of that happening before but not sure where. Two girls I think it was. Just where is it safe on the beach as can't drivers drive anywhere on the sand.

In those sort of places People drive where-ever they want to. They don't stop to think that someone may be sleeping on the Beach. Some of them think it's a "Big Deal" to drive in Sand, even if they don't have a clue how to do it properly.
That's partly why there are so many vehicle accidents on Beaches, some of them Fatal.
It's not the first time, and probably won't be the last, unfortunately.
Cheers,
Sheba.

HW, unfortunately, here in Queensland, there are places where you can drive on the sand - and it is acutally part of our Highway system. Sad, isn't it.

Been driving on Qld beaches since 1967 . Used to be only a few of us .
Now there are a lot of vehicles , and unfortunately there is a percentage of idiots behind the wheel , as there are on all our roads .
Not sure of the details yet but I just saw this on the ABC news
