I will be doing the same trip but in reverse, Up the Newell sometime later this month. Will play it by ear along the way and rely on my trusty Camps Australia Wide book. I have heard from my gardener there is a nice free spot down by the river on the south side of Parkes, but can't place it as yet. Will look out for it myself on my way up.

Just looked myself, can't see it in there either. She saw it in passing a couple of times and said heaps of campervans and caravans staying there overnight.

Narabri showground is ok
Parkes showground $15 a night, not to bad, not in camps book
An overnighter, free at Mirool isnt to bad, shower at the pub
Im told Forbes has reopened the free spot there
There are some good spots on the river at Cobram.
Of course some might find some spots a bit rough cause im not that fussy.
