No not yet Sheba, she is still in the workshop. He has had to fit her in with his already booked in vehicles. I don't like to hassle him but will go around on Monday to see where he is up to. I am getting really titchy wanting to get in there and start cleaning and making to my satisfaction, packing cupboards etc.
We are already into March and I want to go down to Geelong before heading up to Qld in April. Want to have a few trial runs to make sure I haven't forgotten anything.

Ok, Last discussion before I tear my hair out and sit down in the corner for a good cry.
I rang this morning to see how things were going, still waiting on parts, has it officially booked in for the service for 24th March so will do all these road worthy bits in between other booked in customers leading up to that date. Won't be any later than that date, could end up being a bit earlier.
END OF SUBJECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you sure she'll be on the road by the time I get there HW about 9th April? Hw are you coping with that? I reckon I would have taken delivery and told them to call when they were ready for the work to be done - or is it in bits? Incidentally I bought a new 1000W Seine wave inverter today so have a 300w seine wave going for $100 if you are interested.

will be worth the wait knowing all is well mechanically, best to wait and have a the job done properly,
and have the confidence to hit the road, wont take long to clean her out and pack her up!! if you
forget anything, always good excuse to hit them op shops along the way!!

I'm trying to be very patient headnhome, as I know it won't do me any good to be otherwise.
Its a matter of S.in.L having time after to get all connections etc fixed before I head off. Then a good clean out and pack up. Have the kitchen table piled high with bits to go, plus other corners getting packed higher with stuff I know I need.
Oh well, nothing I can do about it.

I'd be in there doing odd jobs while it's in the garage, making sure you're ready when it is, and to make sure the work stays on the s.i.l's agenda.

I thought of that CG, but after all the trouble with the Caryard. I don't want to get on wrong side of my mechanic or S.in.L. So just trying to keep my cool and hope he manages to get it done a bit quicker.

You don't have to get on their wrong side and alienate affections just looking after your purple people eater, oh, sorry, "Myrtle".
By working on the van is a subtle way of hanging around without actually "hanging around" being a nuisance.
You have a trip to prepare for, and while it's not in your yard, you have a "need" to prepare while it's in their garage or yard.
It won't hurt to put a little pressure on or they'll leave your hanging long than you want to hang around.

I'm heading around tomorrow to see where they are up to and explain a few things, politely. There is only one week left on the Temp Permit which cost me so would like to get the road worthy out of the way by the end of the week. See what happens.

UPDATE!!
Mechanic is waiting on a new water pump which he said he told me about. Not sure when, this is the first I've heard of it. He said its part of the service not the roadworthy and is doing them both at the same time to save me on labour. He's already done some work on the exhaust and I'm sure he said he had to pull some of the seats out to do some work in there somewhere.
Said it is taking a while because of the age of the van to source the water pump.
Now I am starting to feel quite sick. How much is this all going to cost me. #@$%(*&%@@!!!

Checked with S.in.L and he knew nothing about the water pump even though he has been around there a couple of times, knew about the exhaust work and steering box work. Hadn't been told about this but thinks what happened is I asked for all hoses to be replaced, while doing that he has seen the water pump had problems too.
Rather have it being found now while it is all apart than while travelling up north later, just freaking out now as to how how this bill is going to be.
He is very thorough, good mechanic. Must have thought he told me about the water pump.
Yes Milo, rather have the bill all in one than done separately and pay for double up of labour.

Sounds like you really shouldn't have to worry about anything when you do finally get on the road Marj. He seems to be being thorough.
You'll still have a reliable 'van that cost less than half what I paid for mine [I think].
Cheers, Sheba.

You're right Sheba, now I know whats going on it makes it easier to wait patiently.
That will be the good thing out of it all. Nothing should go wrong while in my travels, hopefully.
I"m going to pop around next week and take out the curtains, bring them home to wash and iron so will be all nice and fresh when ready to go.
Feeling more optimistic now.

So glad you're feeling better about things Marj. Haven't posted much recently, as I didn't want to "twist the knife" so to speak.
It's all coming together mate.

Yep, looks to be still on schedule for a early April get away. It better be as S.in.L is being sent to Sydney with work sometime early April. Hoping to get it back and he does his bit before he heads off. I'm sure he will as he knows exactly what he has to do.

Hang in there girl! Of all the things that you could have needed, a water pump is probably the cheapest to replace.
I had to put one in Rosy in Eden, and it cost about $120 all up. That's not accounting for all your other work and parts, but if he's doing it for "mate's rates" I think you'll be ok.
Better knowing the work has been done and you'll be ok once you hit the road, than to break down and get stuck, and then it costs big time.
Keep up the RAC ultimate membership. It's definitely worth it.
When it's all done you can relax, have a cuppa and a good lie down.

Why do you want to wash the curtains, they are only going to get dirty again. LOL

Forgot to say the other day, that I got a Car seat for Angel last Monday. Cost $20, but it was worth it I reckon, as it's almost brand new. Haven't had time to set it up yet, as I had to leave to house-sit for a week the next morning.
On Lap-top at the moment, and Pic's on the Desktop. Have to wait 'till I'm home for that one.
Cheers, Sheba.

That sounds a good price Sheba. I haven't seen one yet but may be able to get away with the square of foam I have here with just a dog bed on top as the van seats sit quite high. Will wait till I can fit it all in and see how it goes.
Cheers,
Sheba.
