Now Old needs us..Whereas before they could take or leave you...I think it's called Karma.....Half price,,Low rates..Free camping....They would get me if they allowed a traveller to stay over night at the Rest spots without hassles would be a starter..Without the threat of heavy fines......Any Comment?

QLD is blessed with free and low cost camping, particularly off the coast, Roadside stops for free overnighters are everywhere. It's not a matter of can we go, but more how do we get to cover as much of it as we can...

They didn't need us when guv na bli jacked up th petrol tax . Talk about shooting yaself in th foot .
Guvna Bli said she did not want us interstaters coming into Old & get cheap fuel .
I thought if they kept th fuel price down , travellers would come in go further stay longer - thus spending more $
But then again I am but a "Humble" truck driver - not a pollie - accountant or lawyer .

I think you southerns should start a boycott on Queensland then there would be more room for us Queenslanders and make easier for us to move around the state , no more booking to get into parks just turn up , I don't know why Victorians would want to come to such a backwater .

The Victorians are always welcome here in Qld..unless you're like an Aunt (Dad's sister) & Uncle of mine years ago. They used to whinge about everything, til Dad told them if you don't like it here, don't come back!
Mind you, Dad was originally from Victoria anyway!
(All tongue in cheek..please don't take offence.)

I think it was Sir Joh that bloody old rogue, who summing up southerners, of which I am one, who said "They come up here with a bloody $10 dollar note and a clean shirt - and they dont change either. Having said that... management does insist that at least once a week I change my shirt lol
As an aside.. why is it that anyone can become an Australian, but you have to be born a Queenslander? I think it has something to do with the inbreeding lol

I'm heading up to Qld around April - when it starts to get cold further south. I've been to Queensland before but never in my lovely motorhome. This time I hope to really experience the place - find places unfindable as a regular tourist. I'm kind of planning (insofar as I do plan) to head north along the coast then south inland. No idea how far up I'll get but snorkelling on the Barrier Reef is my only 'must do'. Any and all suggestions/recommendations are very welcome.

Hi Lynda and welcome. I'm heading up north in April too but I will be going up the Newell and coming back towards the coast at Brisbane. We may catch up somewhere in our travels, heading back down early August.

I'll be heading off in June. I'm minding my grandson for a couple of weeks, so will head off when daughter and s.i.l get back from Thailand.
My eventual destination is the Atherton Tablelands, but I plan to go up 'in inside' and back by the coast. I haven't seen much of the 'inside' route, by my 'must see' this time is Undara lava tubes.
This will be a liesurely trip, unlike my previous trips with ' the man who only knew flat out and stop'. Also plan to visit a few rellies along the way.
