Just back from the cruise and want to say what a great time we had. Really good holiday for us girls, no cooking cleaning just all good times. Ship had entertainment every day and night, something to suit most people. Tours onshore were great or you could choose to do whatever you wanted on your own. There were a mix of age groups, familys with children, young people, older people, some on walking frames, some in wheelchairs. I am in the 60 - 65 age group and thoroughly enjoyed it. The young people were very courteous, young men held lifts open for older people and made sure they were in before themselves. Food was great and there were many choices. Silver service restaurants (free included in ticket price) were great. Service fabulous. Steak and Seafood restaurant had $25 seating fee. Service was great food excellent. Staff were very helpful and friendly.  I loved it. Looking to book another !! Off in the van in a week, looking forward to that too.

Management has been trying to get me on a cruise for years... Glad that you enjoyed it...

There was a Passenger on the Pacific Star when she was still doing the Pacific, who lived on her permanently.  Had been there for years apparently.  Must have been at least in his 70's then.

Im sure you would enjoy it Pete, and Sheba, people were saying there is a ship in USA that a lot of elderly people stay on continually cruising. I think one would need quite substantial funds behind them. Not sure if that would be my cup of tea. but, different people have different thoughts.

Theres been an email going around for years comparing the cost of continuous cruises with nursing home fees... and the cruise ship wins! I thought it was a joke up till now?

valnrob sounds great.. my dad and i are going on a cruise to fiji in june, were really looking forward to it we'll be on the pacific jewel, for 14 nights, cant wiait...

You will have a great time Milo, there are things to suit all ages. Round Fiji sounds great.

Not to be deliberately Morbid, but you'd be surprised to know how many people go on Cruises later in life, hoping they will die at sea.  Seriously.

And don't forget that with P&O, unless things have changed recently, the more you Cruise with them, the more discount you get each time.   They must have a cut-off point, but some people might just be getting seriously cheap Fares.

yes Sheba, i think that is correct, and if you book close to the sailing date fares are very cheap. Might try that next time.
