Many years as a tour driver, so here are a couple of clues. The horizontal waterfall in the Kimberley. When booking, ensure that the "falls" are "falling" Don't take, Maybe, Should be, No worries. Ask, that if there is no falls, do you get a refund. The people making the booking should know. The pilot should know. Many people have come back disappointed at the "no show". Along the Victoria Highway, you will come to Timber Creek. It's been awhile, but a young bloke there does a boat trip up the Vic. River. At one point, he slows the boat, and a bloody great "saltie" swims out and ranks up alongside the boat, while the skipper throws slices of bread into a set of jaws that could swallow the whole boat. Trip includes a cuppa and a good yarn. I think his name is Mark. Good Value. Regards Pipes

am confused which isn't hard sometimes. I always thought the horizontal waterfalls were created when the tides rise and fall. As the tides are sometimes quite high, the average is about 6 - 9 metre. big tides over 12 metre

Right. You pay good money to see the "falls", and it's just "flat" water. Agreed, when the huge tides in the North pour in and out, it's spectacular, but with all tidal movemente, there is a "flat spot". Full high, or low. No tidal movement, no falls. Regards Pipes

I had a ball on the most entertaining cruise across Walpole Inlet down south in WA.
It's not just the cruise, but the commentary by the operator is an absolute hoot. There's an optional walk, as well as a cuppa.
He has a unique, style, and if he ever gave up cruises he could do stand up comedy.
Well worth the reasonable fee.

We have done both of these & well worth it, Done the falls out of Broome & they have days when they dont fly due to tides & lack of water movement. Didnt have to ask, it was stated up front.

We did the "falls" out of Derby in '08 and would recommend it highly to everyone too JC, they were amazing.
Like to do the Timber Creek ride.

He tells lots of stories about feral animals and how they got to Oz, and about the native variety, using all sorts of equipment to demonstrate. Very funny and informative, not to mention educashonal.
