I suggest you head west and go through outback NSW and through Broken Hill .
Some classic bush towns out there .
Whichever way you go . . . . have a good one .

If you have a head for heights, the "Whispering wall" which is a dam wall near Williamstown is well worth a visit.

Hi Howdrink, have been to Nuriootpa before but that was quite some time ago, some of my ancestors on my mothers side are buried in old church yards around Nuriootpa.
This is why we are going back, as we are family historians and need to get some more photo's of head stones and old church yards.

Mengler's Hill is a must. From up there you get a full view of the Barossa Valley and some interesting rock sculptures.
You have to check out the local German cuisine like real metwurst, german cake from Tanunda or Nuri Bakery, and all that good stuff.
You can do winery tours and the obligatory tastings.
Gawler also has a lot of history, but they tell me the caravan park has terrible TV reception.
The Maggie Beer Shop is next door to my Auntie's house, and the bakery is on the other side of her corner block. The constant cooking smells are irresistable.
When I visit her I gain weight by inhalation, and from all the food she insists I indulge in. Bless her heart.
It's an interesting region with a lot of family history. The cemeteries and churches also have stories to tell.
